My daughter leaves school next June and wants to do a National Diploma. Can anyone recommend a college?

Although there are a few 'iffy/sticklers' at Bishop Burton, generally it is a very very good College. I know a lot of people who have gone there and have loved it.

I've been around all the place when i did competitions there [the bigger XC course is amazing, some of the jumps are almost Badders size :D] And the new horse facilities are pretty good.

Im certain she'd enjoy BB

Hi BC, we had been thinking BB for the last year or so, then someone said that they took on 2 people from BB and although their stable management was absolutely fantastic they could not ride any of their horses! apparantly the horses they use at BB are all plods. Unfortunately dont know anyone who has been to Riseholme.

I think it depends what year you go etc.. One year they did have quite a few 'plods' but other year's they've had some fairly high strung horses! They dont specialise in having 'nutty' ones but they do try to accomodate the rider, i.e if your a bit nervous most of the time they wont put you on anything likely to scare you senseless until they think your ready..

Will your daughter be taking her own horse with her? They do work you very very hard!

You definitly need to go visit them. Many many years ago i did a HND in Equine studies and had my heart set on Warwickshire but after visiting i just didnt feel comfortable with the place. i then visited Aberystwyth Agri college and loved it. At the time Warwickshire was the better place (on paper at least) but it definitly wasnt for me. Now there are so many to chose from.

I've heard some very good reports on BB my friend studied there a few years ago and she said they were plods but they also had some decent horses.
She did say they were extremely strict but it was also a good place to be.
Their new facilities are excellant.
I think you need to go to an open day at either and see for yourselves.

i wouldn't reccomend BB anymore at all!!!

I did the ND there and my first year was fab, but they then built that huge building and now managment has gone to pot. The instructors just come and go and im still intouch with a lot of now degree guys and there riding is atrocious considering what they were like and the experience they should have gained. And its expected now! locally, most people aren't a huge fan and its not something to be majorley proud of round here to have gone, there a few stories that everyone knows of and the riding goes out the window if you dont have outside help from the start! no one keeps confident for long...

In the last two years…ive not heard anything positive which is such a shame as it was fab before the bosses decided it needed to be bigger and shinier!
