View Full Version : Emotional day today! (photos)

Today was quite an emotional day for us as it was BCE and Darli's last ever show hunter pony class. After she was given her rosette I couldnt stop myself from welling up and crying. Its the end of an era, lol!! Many years of show hunter pony classes from when we did it with Chance and then it was Darli's turn, so it was difficult!! She is too old for the class now as you have to be under 20 and of course when Diggi is broken he will be doing M&M classes.
It was funny though as you could see that he isnt a show hunter anymore as we have dropped his weight and concentrated on collected paces when schooling him rather than hunter paces as we are doing small riding horse now which is different paces altogether.
They were pulled in 4th, the judge went for the chunkier hunter type. We were delighted with her comments though. She said his paces were superb, very collected but she liked a full tail! We thought this was funny as our darling little Diggi has been eating Darli's tail!!! BCE explained this was her last year of shp and she has been concentrating on small riding horse, the judge said he was very true to type in this class and said he would do well.
So thats it, everything changes next year and we are up against all the big show producers who ride and produce for other people, so we will see what next year brings!
Darli was a bit grumpy today and as I was grooming in the ring as they were stripped I couldnt get many photos but here are two that I like.

Waiting on his class, he seemed very interested in the large hack class!!

Your dad and I are very important people and have to be kept sweet otherwise you both wouldnt get anywhere!!! You are too old to be threatened I suppose by your dad but many a time I threaten not to take her!
Its a waste of my breath though as she knows I always will!!!

I finally found this! I think they look amazing! Now you know I am a showing amateur, but to me he looks even better than he did when I met him last year. I just think it is amazin that you do so well up against all the producers and stuff and I can't wait to hear how he goes next season. It was such a shame you didn't get this season, but I totally belive good things are in store for Team Chance!

Thanks everybody.
We did another show yesterday and he was a good boy although we rushed him in his first class as we had just arrived and his class was in the ring but the organisers said they would wait so no warming up and a rush to get him ready. He doesnt like indoors as he really doesnt have much experience of them but will have once we do some dressage this winter so in his first class he shied from the sunshine coming through the roof on the floor and the people in the gallery.
But he got 5th in his riding horse (where he shied) and 3rd in intermediate show hunter. He went really well in this class and BCE was a bit miffed as 2nd was very naughty and cantered on the wrong leg and did flying changes in its gallop but hey ho thats how it goes! He qualified for BSPS Winter Show, POYS 2010 and Ponies Uk Winter Show!
