Can't you ask the riding club what their policy is?

If you join the BHS as a Gold member that includes 3rd party insurance up to a silly amount you're never likely to need, as well as a certain amount of personal accident insurance, so that might well be enough for the sort of riding you'll be doing.

Your only covered at riding club shows, be it your club or another club, but not at any other time.

BHS is a better route to go down!
