I've been dying to tell everyone but didn't want to until everything was final incase anything went wrong - I've bought a horsebox!!! With a little help from my OH.

It's an F reg Ford Transit, 2litre, 3.5tonne. I love it! We went to see it three weeks ago and Andy (OH) checked it out completely (he really does know what he's on about) and said lets just put in an offer! He said the engine was sound as a pound, the chassis was in mint condition, I did the horse safety checks, jumped up and down on the ramp and insidem checked for sharp points etc. The only thing is that it's gonna need a new passenger door sometime. It's just a bit rotten at the bottom. So he negotiated with the lady selling it and she knocked that off the price. So we went and got the deposit then and there. Paid the balance on Saturday when we picked it up!

I'd planned to get something end of this year anyway but H had such an awful trip in the wagon last time the yard owner took us out that I spoke to Andy about bringing it forward and with a little help from him financially I had enough to get something. But the condition was we didn't go out of my price range and we didn't get excited and do something stupid. We had to find something decent. I think we've been really lucky to be honest.

Anyway Andy drove the first 80 miles home and then I drove the last 70. First ten minutes was so scary! Was shaking and swearing like a trooper! Was on my own cos Andy driving my car. Anyway got used to it and by the time we got home it felt like I'd been driving it weeks!

Am a very lucky girl. And so excited now about the future!!

How exciting, its great having your own transport for the horses!!!!!!

Can I just say please check out the floor thoroughly before putting horses in, ive heard sop many horror stories, jumping on it may not be enough.

Can we have pics of the new wagon? What colour etc :)

Excellent - so chuffed for you...

I should have been taking Satin on her maiden voyage in mine this weekend had I not had whiplash and hurt my shoulder :(

I'm sure you're aware having read your highway code weekly since passing your driving test, that the limit for your box is 50 mph on national speed limit single carriageway roads and 60mph on dual carriageways - only say as people often fall foul on that one...

Pics next weekend when hopefully we're going to go on our first trip - only round the block to see what H makes of it.

Storm yes don't worry I know the limits. Am gonna be very cautious though and doubt, especially when H is in it, that i'll get anywhere near the max!

It's blue!

Heh ok, I'll go back and sulk in my corner that I can't take Satin out in hers!

Important Q that no one has asked - what's it's name?

Lol Storm!! I want to call it Trinny the Tranny van!! But think we're going to go with Ethel as reg is EFL!

Forgot to say vels mum, Andy is going to go over it with a fine tooth comb this week sometime before we try H in it. I won't put my pride and joy in anything I'm not 100% confident in don't worry. But thanks for your advice and concern!

Photos next weekend I promise!!

Bailey afraid it's not that grand!! No live in. Cos of my licence etc I can only drive a 3.5 tonne and that really only equals cab and box, there is a luton (is that what you call it?) above the cab for rugs, saddles, show gear etc. But plenty of space to stand in there and nice comfy cab. So pretty ok!

Defo pics this weekend I promise!

Loubylou we got so lucky I think. This had only been on the market a couple of days and we were first to see it. I think the first to see would have have bought it so am glad we were first! There aer a few out there but it depends on you budget. There were only three in my price range but a lot if I had a couple of thousand more.
