Charlotte and Barry withdrew from badminton before the first inspection yesterday. Found out today he wouldnt trot up, they took him to newmarket on the way home..

He's been diagnosed with a ruptured flexor tendon in his hock. Understandably everyone, especially Charlotte is devastated. Wont post more details for their privacy, but i feel terrible as they had both done some fantastic training and getting him swimming and now this. She looked so distraught unloading him.

xx

What a shame, but better to find out now than to have to pull up on the XC after more damage has been done.

That is such a shame - I'm so glad I don't do eventing or anything, there must be so many injuries, and I couldn't bear my horse to be so badly hurt.

OMG - how awful. So what's the long term prognosis? Will the horse compete again or is the career over??? Any idea on how the injury occurred?

Looks like he's going to be a dressage horse or just hack depending on how he recovers over the next year, so by the sounds of what's been said eventing career is over. Charlotte has done wonders with him and has ridden him for quite a few years now, so understandably she is gutted. :( Not saying any more for his owners privacy.

It's sad seeing him not walk past the stables and house every morning, he's now on box rest on the other side of the yard. Fingers crossed he recovers.
