When a horse is advertised as loan with a view to buy what does this mean? I mean obviously I know what it means but in terms of the loaning how long would you say the loan would be before they wanted to sell ?? I know everyone is different and the best thing is to ring up and ask the owner but just wondered what your views were on an ad that said that.

It depends entirely on the owner.
Sometimes the loan is more like a trail where it only lasts 2-6 weeks, it can be a few months or even years.
I sold my welsh A after he was on loan with view to buy after 2 years. He was a little horror and we wanted them to not only have him long enough to see all the stunts he would pull, but to also make sure they loved him enough to put up with it! they found him a challenge, but decided after the 2 years that they still loved him and were 100% they wanted to buy him.
Sure i could have just done it for 6 months to a year, but being a little pony, i didnt want to sell him for him to be sold on a year later due to being outgrown. Luckily he was passed on to the younger daughter after they bought him. He is still ridden and has a definate home for life, and i have first refusal should he come back up for sale too.
