Does it not defeat the point of using the rings on the gag?
Just saw a picture of it, it looked weird.

well rounding on a pelham are piontless too
I have seen people use roundings on Dutch gags, I have also seen people ride with double reins on a dutch gag.
I think roundings are an easier way of handling what should be 2 reins, but in doing this I think it sends an incorrect signal to the horses mouth....you may as well use a snaffle!! Im sure there are people on here with other ideas but thats my opinion:D

Both the gag and the pelham are supposed to be used with two reins otherwise it just sends the same signal to the horse all the time, instead of something mild but having a stronger backup signal roundings just make a bit constantly strong.

Ditto Coloredred. They should both be used with 2 reins.
However Hannah goes nicer and happier in a dutch gag with no snaffle rein. I don't like this and when i am riding her i tend to put a snaffle rein on her, and will be teaching my OH to learn to ride with 2 reins, because i would like her to work more on the snaffle rein, and have the second rein only as a back up as it is meant to be.
The girls however they are beginners, and with roundings on Hannah is stupidly strong for them, although behaves herself brilliantly and looks after them, they feel she is pulling against them all of the time, yet when she only has the second rein on, she is alot better for them. Obviously i wouldn't allow her to be ridden like this if it was affecting her, but she is happy like this, and as they only ride her every other week she isn't bothered by it.
They will be learning to ride with double reins as soon as possible though!!

thats exactly what i think as well, i really do not see how they work at all, surely you wont get the leverage on them so they are pointless?
you can use roundings on a dutch gag and probably alsorts of other things to i saw someone with them on a rope gag now they really dont work on rope gags at all they are totally pointless

As others have said both the dutch gag and the pelham should be ridden with double reins really.
