Hello,

My neighbour and friend who I used to work with about 6 years ago came round on Friday night. We had such a laugh as she is a brilliant rider, competes for a SJ yard, BSJA etc etc So naturally she jumped Taran.

WOW!!! She made him fly. My friend cannot believe my little cob is 16 and only started jumping at the age of 14 (rather proud of myself now) Taran did his first 1 metre course in the field, he had two down (my fault, friend was riding, I set up the double with an odd striding) But the second time he flew round and cleared all by miles! Apparently he is so light on his feet!

My friend said he could definately affiliate. Now, there is one problem, whenever I take Taran to shows he gets 'stage fright' I think and completely backs off the leg. So my friend is going to take him to some local SJ classes for me (I may do the clear round) to give him more confidence out and about... Just shows doesn't it, what a difference a really, really godd rider makes? So this time next year I may have a BSJA pony!!! EEEEKKK!!!!!

So pleased for my little Coblet.

Oh wow thats great. He doesn't need a really good rider - he flies over them with you! You should be really really proud of how he goes now. Keep us updated!

thats great Dennis used to BSJA and did really well big cobs can do it too

Taking him out loads will help him get over his stage fright even just goign to the shows and wandering around in hand or sitting on him will help

That'd be great.

Get him out to the Intro shows asap! Start at 70cm and it'll give him a real taste of it!

That's great Beks. You just need to start getting his out to alot of unafiliated stuff this year to let him get used to jumping at different venues. Before you BSJA his I'd travel up the A55 abit and get him to a few shows my end where the courses are built up to height. The difference between a meter course at home and a metre course at an affiliated comp can be quite different. Let me know if you want any help finding some competitions.
