Kay making me buy Capper a new saddle

Kay is just getting on my nerves Capper has a perfectly good saddle that he uses and that she bought for him and she doesn't use it on other horses because she doesn't fit in it and doesn't like it either, but she is still making me buy Capper this new saddle which I hate as I can't get my legs on his sides and it squeaks soo badly that he spooks at it I mean I know I can sort that out with some oiling but I love his old saddle as it was comfy and he worked well in it, I just don't see why I have to pay for a saddle I hate when I could just buy that one off her for about the same price.

Anyway I know this may not be an excuse I am only loaning Capper and she wants me to buy him some of my own tack I mean she wants me to buy him a new bridle I mean I would if the stuff he had now was rubbish but it's really good stuff. I have been buying him so much stuff because she's asked me to, she'd also annoyingly enough asked me to buy him stuff for his dressage saddle which I'm now not allowed to have so I've wasted my money so much. I mean I've just ordered him and £80 heavy weight under her instruction when she's just told me he may not need ahh

what do you guys think?

Sorry thats not very constructive- but it seems that if you are loaning him its up to ou what you buy him else its not worth having him on loan? Isnt the point of loan to treat them like your own!?

Does she still ride and see him then or has he moved yards closer to where you are?

You're not in a full-time job, and I'm presuming she is, I can't believe she's so cheeky as to expect you to pay for really expensive things!

if you buy the saddle it is your saddle, therefore get what you want as long as it fits him then when you stop laoning him its your saddle, but if he needs a new saddle surely as he isnt fullyloaned to you, as in totally your horse then its her responsibility to buy him things he needs

anything you buy if yours and when you stop with him take it with you its your stuff

No Emmalou she doesn't ride him but as she's my instructor she does have lots of other horses so needs a lot of saddles but she never used it before on anyone else other than Capper, and yeah he's still a the yard because it's only a five minute drive from us anyway

that takes the p**s! when i got star on loan i got all her tack and rugs etc with her and then since then if she has outgrown her saddles i have bought her a new one but her owner never demanded anything and the stuff i have bought i will keep if i ever dont have her as it was mine as i bought it and her owner would expect anything else! x

I don't think it's your responsibility to buy things she needs unless it's in your contract that you'll supply equipment. Don't get bullied into buying something you're not happy with just because you love the horse, at the end of the day you have to think is she using you and will you get anything back from it?

Luckily we have had a word with her and told her we hate the saddle and she said it was ok she didn't actually want that saddle she found the saddle she wanted in the house which to be fair is almost identical to the one I use on Capper she doesn't want me to buy it off her because she wants to keep it but she says I can use it and keep in on my hook! woo! atleast I don't have to use the squeaky on!
I'll talk to her about the rug tomorrow!
