Sorry for size of pics I did set photobucket to resize them

Wizz - Having a roller on to get used to pressure on his back.
The last time he had this on I didn't get to do it up before he freaked out.

We had a few hiccups were he thought about side kicking me but didn't

It went well....untill Merlin started playing up in the stable so I told o/h to let him out, didn't want him to hurt himself......but he went nuts, was amusing but didn't expect it, the silly boy.

So then Wizz went nuts, then panicked because of the roller

So I calmed him down and took it off and we did some more lunging without it, ended on a good note.

Lovely photos! Agree with Loosey you have a very well trained O/H

But please keep the lunge lein taught when you lunge especially if you ahve another horse loose. Last thing you need is either Merlin or Wizz getting themself getting caught up in it.

Do you mean tight? It's only his second time lunging hence the looseness of the lunge rein, he keeps trying to come into me so I end up moving.
I know its not a good idea lunging with another horse but he would have been over the door and does stay out of the way. The reason why he almost got away in one of the photos is because I stupidly didn't put my wrist band on, if I had it on he wouldn't be going anywhere. :)

Aww bless them!
Agree with anni though...please dont let the rein drop on the floor, accident waiting to happen...you need to keep it up and a good contact else he will learn if he drifts in then he gets his own way as the rein gets looser!! Use a lunging whip to point him out (no need to use it to make him go forward, just to stop him falling in!)

Sorta, I have tried on a few occasions but come off very fast, hes had a bad past and was going to be shot at the sales, where he originally come from. You can see in his eyes he is petrified, he won't let any farriers touch him now so I have to do his feed, having a saddle on is a big achievement for us! He's a bit like Kita, just explodes.

You can almost see your face Rhea :p

Whizz is looking really good weight wise, and pretty chilled until Merlin decided to play! I think Anni means try and keep the lunge line off the floor so that they wont get it wrapped around their legs if they spooked/ran etc.

Like I said its only his second time lunging, he will get it soon enough but its loose because he kept coming in, so I kept moving, I did use the lunge whip like your said, once minute he went out with it the next he wouldn't its just going to take time. :)

Righty, will do that tonight, it is a bit difficult as he tried to come in and I'm trying to keep him out, we will get there soon enough, plus I am still trying to get used to it

Think I might have spelt taught wrong but it pretty much mean the same as tight. Just worried it might even get caught round his legs when you are lunging him. I know its only his second time but if you are worried about him falling in, try with 2 lunge leins. Will take some getting used to but means you won't have to use the lunge whip :)

I'll try that tomorrow BC, sounds like it could be easier, will let you know how it goes.

Shaz - I know its not a good thing to do but he was going ape in the stable, really didn't want him pulling himself, he practically stays away anyway.

amandaxx1 - I was pulling one weight face
