Fudge's castration didnt go to plan

Stressful day for me and my boy today...

Vet had been out 2 weeks ago to another pony so she checked Fudge, yes he had both his doodahs there, then she came this morning to geld him brought the other vet too and he had a check yep he has 2, so sedated him, knocked him out cold and scrubbed up, cut into the first one it wasn't a testicle but a lump of fat, could not believe it so he was stiched up came round ok, bit shaky at first but just fine now, so now we have the worry of will the other one drop, he is only 7mths so time yet..but my poor boy went through all that for nothing :sad-no:

Oh bless you! You poor things, hopefully you can try again in a couple of months.

Forgive my ignorance but what happens with this kind of situation? I assume they didn't charge you and hopped back to the vets with their tales between their legs?

Magic didn't get his until he was 18 months old, Merlin has hardly anything there but around 2 ish when he got hislil chestnuts lol

its strange how they didn't know it was a fatty tissue though.

i tend to wait untill at least they are yearlings, sorry your lad had to go through it, sometimes these vets need a kick up the bum! at least he'll be well practised for next time and you know he shouldn't have any funny reactions or anything!

I'm so sorry to hear that, poor boy. Agree with the others - sounds like it was vet's error and you shouldn't have to pay.

Shaz - they normally have to go in and find the other ball, its more risky then the simple castrating but I try not to panic, they will soon come when they are ready, your find they will come out with the summer grass.

Mine won't let me touch theirs!...... or their dongs, how I'm supposed to clean it I don't know.

My boy was like that - the vet knocked him out, rolled him on his back and removed the first one, then went in for the second but it had vanished! After much rummaging around inside she found the second one - very small - even the dog would have been embarresed - and out it came.

He swelled up rather badly after which was not surprising.
