My recently purchased horse registered with chaps has a splint. I was thinking of doing some in hand showing. Will the splint mean it is a big no no.

Sorry for being dim not done in hand showing before:o

What level of showing are you planning on doing? If your just doing local i wouldnt worry too much. She's 2 isnt she? There is a chance she will re-absorb it at some point tho it would help to get an idea why she's got it in the first place.

yeh she is 2yr only been there a couple of weeks. I got her yesterday. Owner says running around in the field although maybe work too early as they had started lunging her.

Is it on the inside of her front right leg? Just below the knee?

Leave it as it may re aborb, or if you want to get rid of it use splintex or DMSO.

there are lots of creams and stuff you can use for splints but dont be shocked if he goes lame using them as the way they work is by drawing more blood to the area which makes the leg very hot and sometimes they will go lame, or the ones i have used always do

SPlints dont matter really anyway i know horses that have gone to HOYS and won loads at CHAPS wiht splints depends on how noticeable and how picky the judge is

I agree with S&W there are many ponies who have gone to the top with splints.

I read that slices of lemon can help.

Yeah, can just about see it on one of your pictures. She could have clobbered herself while messing in the field but its worth mentioning it to your farrier. If there's more stress down the inside of the leg due to poor conformation or poorly balanced feet it can cause splints. The farrier may be able to rebalance her foot to reduce the stress. At 2 years old theres a pretty good chance it will re-absorb anyway.

Rubbing anything into a splint will help, Anni had a sort of splint when she was kicked and i rubbed aloe gel into it everyday and it went completely. Its all about stimulating blood flow!

So maybe just massaging it will help then. Will also mention to farrier when he comes thanks guys.
