Hi guys.
I'm not fishing for sympathy, just need to share my pain!
As you know, Lady has Cushings disease and has laminitis.
But it's all getting too much for her (me?) and I've decided to have her put down. She has been on a medium dose of bute, but is still in lots of pain. Her feet are red-hot and just looks so fed up.
So, the YO is ringing the 'man' to come to do it, she'll let me know when tomorrow. It will defo be within the next few days.
I think i feel better now it's 'organised' i've been a distraught mess for days!
So, yeah, there we go. Miserable.

I am so sorry to hear that but as Emm says you are very brave to let her go and not allow her to suffer. Bless you! Take care!

Oh poor sweetheart!
This is the exact situation my old boy is in, fighting Cushings and Lammi is a horrible thing, and with him it's now just a matter of when the time is right. He is still enjoying life but i know he wont be with me this time next year :(:(
Agree with Em. It is SO damn hard putting them down, but the greatest gift of all is to alleviate suffering. It may not feel that way for a while, but in time you will see it is the final act of kindness we can ever do for them. It's just so hard for us to deal with afterwards sometimes.
Please dont feel alone, you have all of us here

im so very sorry, but i hope you can find some comfort in that you are doing the very best for your pony and putting her first before your feelings, something some owners wouldnt do.
Take care hun, we all understand xx

I'm so sorry *hug*
You are doing the right thing, and I know what you are going through. My first pony had arthritis, laminitis and suspected cushings and I had to let her go. It does get easier I promise.

Thank you all so much for your words of comfort.
She goes on Monday. In some ways i feel better now it's organised cos i know she wont be in pain for much longer.
As it is she is out with her buddies, making the most of the thick black mud!! She may be ill but she is still a muck monster!!
Thanks guys.
