Schooling pics

I've given up using the school at my yard for anything other than lunging once or twice a week. It's so deep it's like the dry part of the beech complete with pebbles :rolleyes: So i now school in a spare field. Since i've been doing this i've noticed magic's canter is so much better, still too fast but no where near as bad as in the school, but who can blame him for not being able to find his balance in there when even i find it difficult to walk in there!

Hopefully you can see an improvement, i know i can. His outline is still inconsistent but his back is stronger than it was and he's holding his head much lower without being quite so tense. I'll post an old pic at the bottom.

He does look a lot more relaxed. He's tracking up nicely too. I agree grass is a much better surface to work on. Much more springy!

May i suggest sliding his saddle back a few inches? (i know you've had a lot of trouble finding them to fit, so it may have wriggled forward while you were working!)

IG, it's a really forward cut saddle, it doesn't move, just looks more forward than it actually is. The points of the tree are about 2inches back from his shoulder blade if not slightly more. I really want to get a 2nd cheaper saddle to school in so i can have longer stirrups, i've been keeping my eyes open for an older t4 dressage saddle.

Just drawn a line on this one that was taken before the others, the saddle was in the exact same place when we'd finished :)

Yeah it's really nice to have one that doesn't move, he seems really comfortable too.
