Went for a hack with the Grant after. She was still same old Lacey, desperate to be in front, a bit wizzy and joggy, but we did a few turns away from home which she did perfectly, and I had to make her stand on the way home a couple of times. First it wasn't massively successful and she just walked off as soon as I stopped asking, but after a few tries she stood still and I was able to relax the reins then ask her to go again :D

slowly slowly but getting much better :) She didn't even hesitate when I turned her away from home.

looks like a pony pad! looks nothin like any race exercise saddles I have been on and is nothing like my own! Unless its pony racing saddle? are they different to full normal R E saddles?
she looks a nice sort, why the home made blinkers tho? She scared of the rider being ontop?

Its one of Grants saddles that he's using on her for some reason? He started her in that and is now doing work in her own tack too. Not sure of the reasoning about it but -shrugs- its VERY strange though, feels sooo slippery and it has a big handle on the front to help you stay on the hooligan :lol:

The blinkers are pacifers. I'm not sure if you know her history but she's a severe rearer, thats why she's away for schooling, and the idea of them is that she can't see whats above her, she's less inclined to rear.

Glad things are going well taking it slowly is the best way I did that with my mare. Maybe the saddle is to help you stay on should there be a problem and also if I remember and sorry if I'm wrong but didn't she have an issue with her back. Maybe at the moment her own isn't quite right or if her saddle made the back worse then its to get rid of the association of pain when being ridden. Its all very complex but glad things are going well for you.

I think the reason behind the saddle is something to do with eliminating old associations, they've just taken her completly away from any old memories, she's in a new bit (myler snaffle with a curb), new saddle ect and they'll gradually reintroduce her old stuff.
