Schooling Jakes tonight. *Pics now working*

Took Jake in the field tonight. He was working really well until he started trotting and I felt like he was too 'short' you know?

(Jakes was diagnosed with white line disease this afternoon and had a chunck of hoof cut away, although he has trotted up sound I was adviced to keep working him as long as he stays sound - please see the 'Health forum for the full thread)

So I bought him back in. So sad as he was starting to work nicely :(

Constructive crit welcome - I have weekly lessons on him started off two weeks ago! He has been on loan for past three years and I have only ridden him a handful of times in past three years so I am very pleased with his progress!

Yeah my friend had him on loan and I rode him once in a blue moon (he was at the same yard) but I got him back when I moved house and she bought herself a pony as I wouldn't sell Jakes.

Hes gorgeous Beks, a bit tense and overbent at times but if he's only just used to working properly then obviously it'll all take time. He's looking fantastic tho!

Thanks, Jakes is over bent and hollow in some of them so it's a work in progress and his (and my lol) muscles and weight are in the wrong place! Haha!

He looks very happy. I think to get him out of that tense mindset I would probably forget about having any contact and just get him going and thinking forwards until he starts to bring his head down and relax that neck a bit.

This is what i did with Magic, he refused to drop his neck and lift his back until i dropped all contact and he learnt to relax :)

He is a tad over bent in some but boy oh boy Beks he is looking amaaazing. He has got some serious phwoar factor going on and he is actually looking bigger (or have you shrunk ?)
