Thought id do a progression post of Vel, how do you think he is developing? Im not great on confirmation etc but he looks to me to be filling out in all the right places.

He has very stong hindquarters which im pleased about and a strong shoulder.

He is still very narrow across the chest which im slightly worried about but hoping with time this will sort itself out.

I think he's looking great! His chest will widen and muscle up once he starts working I would have thought. I'm not good at confirmation I'm afraid!!

He looks great, its weird how you don't notice a change until the old photos come out.
I think his chest will get boarder around 3/4, when he starta maturing.

He'll definately widen up as he matures, that could even be as late as 7, I think Charlie has only just this year reached full maturity and he's 7 1/2, he was so scrawny when I got him as a 3 year old, i'll do a before and after post.

Vels is looking great, good, strong hindquarters which I like to see in the breed.

Autumn - Looking forward to your picture post, I dont think ive seen any pics of Charlie as a youngster.
Smoke - Thats such a lovely thing to say! Thank you x

I agree he has lots of time to fill out and mature but it is interesting to compare his progression with other youngsters and get other ppls opinions.

My, he looks so different! vel is long and narrow but looks like he has a good amount of bone (from seeing in the flesh). He is gonna shoot up and fill out one of these days and be a sturdy well set Friesian! As the others have said he is a credit to you after what you have both been through! xx

You can really see the improvement. He's going to look even better than he is now when he's fully matured. Beautiful! He looks great x

His baby pics are good to look back on, its not till I compare him a year ago that I realise how much he has developed. He has grown from 14.1h to just shy of 16h in 12 months!

lol

Do fresians have a height limit?

I think its rare they ever grow bigger than 17h. I think the more baroque types never exceded 16h but with modern twangs they now can be as big as 17h

Vel is filling out lovely! I love Friesians and I would buy one if I didn't have Kissie!

A friesian would suit you down to the ground Ness, just going on your posts and their nature I think you would get on well!
Ever thought of putting Kissie in foal? A Kissie/Friesian baby would be nice!

are fresians particularly late matureres? all the ones ive seen are only the babies on here and they all seems very narrow and still look very baby like baies, if you get me?

Smile and Wave - Friesians are very late developers! They do not reach full maturity till 7 or 8. Ive been asking a few friesian owners when their horse begins to fill out across the chest and it seems when they reach 3/4 they should broaden out.
Autumn's Charlie is 7 1/2 and I think he has just fully matured recently.
Its a bit annoying they take so long and ive heard them being described as hidiously put together horses whilst maturing as one part will develop at a time instead of an even all over fill out.
Hopefully it will be worth the wait though. Im more than happy so far, its quite interesting to watch them develop as its almost a daily change!
