I just thought i'd post these to show how he's matured over the last 3 1/2 years.

These were the first day when I got him home, quite skinny and very narrow with weak hindquarters:-

6 months later, just backed.

To now (aged 7 1/2):-

Would I be right in saying he was late in being castrated...might be wrong on that. Even as a three yr old he was still pretty sturdy looking but, yea he has really filled out since.
Such a good example of the breed, he is muscular and strong in all the right places.
Has he grown in height much since you bought him at 3?

Yes, he was gelded just before I got him, he was used for breeding up at a stud in Doncaster.

I really hoped he would outgrow his locking stifles as he's such a powerful backend, i hoped that once he muscled up it would help, but he still suffers with them, but to be honest, once he's in work you wouldn't know, it's only after he's been stood.

I don't think he's grown much in height, perhaps an inch but I've no measuring stick so it's hard to judge with just a tape.

Have you ever seen any of his offspring?

Does he still get excited around mares, I suppose if they know what their bits are for its hard to keep them calm around the ladies lol

No I never saw any of his offspring although I was offered first refusal when the stud sold up, but at the time I wasn't in the position to take any.

He's very good around mares, he shows a bit of interest but nothing more, he just perks up and shows off! I believe they are generally quite amenable as a breed when kept entire from what i've read.

Hi Autumn, what fab pics and what a difference from past to present!, the first pics remind me of Vinnie! He looks like he has really muscled up through his back, quarters and topline, and really filled out. There is alot of work with getting the backend up to speed with the shoulders as you say they carry so much weight on their forehand getting them to sit on their quarters more and lifting the forehand is one of the ultimate goals. I think he looks stunning (but you know that!)

He is a cracker, you've done very well with him.

Was he graded as a stallion with locking stifles? Just I was told they should never pass for this as my mums stallion had the same he passed but he shouldn't have.

He was graded as a foal but whether they were locking then I don't know as it was before I got him when he was over in Holland. He wasn't an approved stallion in the eyes of the FPS, his progeny could only be registered in the boek II not the main stud book. x

Freisians are just simply stunning, think they have to be one of the most beautiful breeds, my mum and dad always wanted one, our little pure black section D stallion did look a bit like a small freisian bless him :D
