As I failed miserably at getting pics from our first jumpcross competition I got the OH to take loads today at our first training session today. We took Toby along and both horses were so well behaved, so pleased with them both and they weren't bothered by leaving each other or anything like they are sometimes!

Nice little cross pole to start off with for Sovereign, then a shot of Tobys bum!

Jump on top of the bank, you can't really see how big the bank is on the pics!

Another upright on a slope and an angle as you approach (and a better look at the banks in the background!)

And lastly we cleared the joker! So impressed cause last time she refused point blank to even attempt it! It felt like a really normal jump, cleared it fine, but it wasn't until I saw the pics that I realised that she was doing something quite peculiar with her back legs!

I'm so proud of her, at the competition a few weeks ago we could barely trot round and cat leapt most from a standstill! Today she was so good we were being asked to do things first as example horse and being used to lead the naughty horses. The thing that doesn't come across on the pictures very well is the gradient of the place, some of it was quite scarey! I don't like downhill but I'm trying really hard not to let this affect Sovereign, but its hard!:ashamed:

Sorry theres so many! White wine and caramel ice cream for anyone who made it this far!

Aw thank you! I'm so used to seeing funny pics of us - she has a tendency to through herself at things or cat leap and then cause I'm so concerned about catching her in the mouth I'm literally throwing the reins at her - I know its wrong but I do it automatically!

It's at Aldeby nr Beccles in Suffolk, I think all the sites are listed on the jumpcross website if your looking for one in your area? Its great fun - xc for wimps as my instructor calls it but it is soo much fun when your not worried at all!

wine and ice cream for me please!

What's the definition of jumpcross?? I've never heard of it. It looks like cross country but with normal jumps.

CDR - that is pretty much exactly it! It is knock down SJ type fences but on a xc type course, so its much longer and has the hills/water/ditches/steps etc of a xc course. It's meant to improve technique and confidence for horse and rider etc. Can't do a link but theres a website if your curious, jumpcross . com I think, or might be .co.uk - either way i'm sure it won't be hard to find!

Looks good!
Do you know when the next competition is up there? Might just have to give it a bash with Hamish as its pretty close...and solid jumps scare me slightly as they get bigger!

Awwww bless them!! You all look great - I still have a soft spot for Toby I have to admit - I think I might steal him once his rider outgrows him!! *Plants her in baby-bio!* xx

I thought my eyes had gone wonky, both horses look so alike:D. I'd love to have a go at jump cross. There might be a course near me by the time Charlie is ready to do anything like that.

Lol we are Team Palomino!

Thankies everyone for the lovely comments, I'm still grinning now when I think about how well behaved she was!

Honeybee - next one is Oct 25th, let me know if your going and what class your in and I'll keep an eye out for you (I'll be either with the horse or with the burger van)

I can't stress enough how much fun it was, if anyones near a course they really should have a go. I always considered myself fairly confident and happy to jump xc solid fences but this was so nice without that little voice in the back of your head shouting 'eeeek! close your eyes and hope for the best!'

Welly - unfortunately mr tobias is 15.2 and rider is 5'7 ish and no longer growing - but I'm sure she'd let you take him for a hack with me and Sov next time your round!
