Ok, I'm doing this a bit late but i only found out i was going this morning! Anyway, I'm off to a show tomorrow to enter into the in hand veteran class which has qualifiers to Chiltern and Thames. I dont know what i'm meant to wear as i stopped showing with my old pony a while ago.

Here is Ivan:

(he will be plaited as i recently pulled his mane.)

So i have a navey jacket, a tweed jacket and a waistcoat which i can choose from. what would be best to go with Ivan?

I also have another question but about passports. Would they ask to see the passport to prove his age? we got Ivan's passport before we found out his age so his passported age simply says 'unknown'. would that be a problem?

i know it's late, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tweed jacket I would say with cream coloured trousers, shirt and tie, smart shoes that you can run in, and a hat.

Passports are often required if the judge doesn't believe your horse is actually as old as you say!! We have a veteran and often get questioned and asked for the passport because he doesn't look a day past 10 years old... he's actually 19.

excellent, thank you!

That's the problem i may have! Ivan is 37 and while i think he looks old, i dont think he looks quite THAT old! I'll just have to go and see what they say

Wow he looks brilliant for 37!! I'd say the same as Twizzel but if it's hot I'd go with the waistcoat. Definitely a nice hat (or normal riding hat) and some cream trousers if you have them. They always look better than jods. Good luck!

thanks gem, my class is quite early and i'm not going to hang around so i dont think i shall get too hot in my jacket! Unfortunately i grew out of my cream trousers some time ago, so jods will have to do! haha
