View Full Version : Is TJ looking any more like a specific breed or do we still reckon he's a breeders joke!

And of course I mean that in the nicest possible way but he did look like a total mish-mash with his big head and little TB legs stuck on a random body but was just wondering what everyone thought now he's matured and filled out a bit.

A few recent pics,

I think he still looks like a mini horse rather than a pony and to be honest I can't see any particular breed characteristics in him, sometimes I think I do then the next day he's back to being my little mongrel pony! Don't get me wrong I really don't care what he is and think he's fab but it would be nice to have some idea where he came from.

I reckon he's a mini-TB!

he is very horse like. That second picture - if it wasnt for the height of the gate he could look like a 16hh

I still think he was very young when Sarah got him!

He looks so very much like MG in the first photograph, giving him the very 'horse' apperance. His head looks different, and like a Caspians. Although his height doesnt match!

Saying that, he could have had a larger father!

he really does look like a tb cross with a pony like a welsh or new forest!

Yeah I reckon there's some welshies in there - look at his long legs - I reckon he's got a LOT more growing to do!

If you take that white patch away from his face you can see a totally different horse head! its hard to put a breed to him with the patch

I would say a bit of NF, Welsh and TB , what about saddle bred? he could have absolute anything in him.

Hes such a lovely boy, you have done wonders with him x

So we're agreed on the TB/some form of horse part!

BC he was very young when Sarah got him, his passport has 2 dates in it April 2007 and April 2008 so Sarah had to go by the earlier one as that's the one on the vets certificate inside but it's actually wrong as my vet put him at around 15/16 months when I got him last year and that coupled with how he looked and how much he's matured would all indicate that he's a 2008 foal meaning he's 2 and a bit now.

my horse was a similar shape to him at that age! he's a nf x id. he had long fine legs and big chunky head and really short back. will add a pic!

no idea but he is looking really well, well done, he has kind of lost that funny shaped belly he had for a while,

i dont think he was a breeders joke i recon his daddy probably jumped a fence and had his way with something

i see newfie in his head. I find they have mature horse head looks and im sure sure he has strong new forest influence.

at least he's not fallabella X giraffe which was my first guess when he arrived!!!

He looks just like a pony that used to be at my yard and he was a TBXsec D. He is very cute!

He very much reminds me of Boo (rabbit's Boo on here),but then that could just be my memory playing tricks as haven't seen a Boo pics for a while (think rabbit is travelling at the mo,so will let her off lol).

She is a welsh D x if I remember rightly??

He definitely looks like some sort of welshie to me anyway, especially in his general body shape,if not his head.

He's a very pretty 'mish mash' anyway:)

I thought exactly the same- He looks a lot like Boo a Welsh D, particularly in that bottom picture I think. I think hes a Welsh D X TB.

And don't worry my spotted one has skinny pony legs (under his feathers) and a cob barrelled body! God only knows what mines crossed with!
