Eeeek I really want to have a go! it's on the 19th September. The cross country jumps are gonna be made up of the Working hunter jumps.

I'm not sure Zebedee is the right sort of pony for an ODE though :(. We have only done a few clear rounds this year and only got a clear round on the second go  Also we had terrible trouble getting over the more natural looking jumps :o.

There are two more clear round sessions running that I might be able to get to and they do clear round Working hunter too so I'll have a bash and see how we get on, if he gives it his best shot then I'll sign us up for it (then I get the chance to do one more dressage test too!) but I have a feeling we might be watching it this year :(

Do it!!! You will regret it if you don't ;)

Also don't forget that ODE are set up so its dressage, show-jumping then cross-country so if the show-jumping doesn't go as well as you'd hope you pull out :)

So you don't think Zeb is too old to try it? I'd only do it if it was a beginner standard as I'm not an experienced jumper but some of the older ladies at the yard (the ones who ride round the block once a week for 20mins) are always making comments about his age and how hard he works for me. I know they think I work him too hard but Im actually really careful with him. All we've been doing this summer is flatwork lessons, dressage and the odd clear round. So he's fit but not done too much for a 21 year old. Just makes me feel uncomfortable sometimes and when they hear about me thinking of doing this little ODE well you can imagine! It's be 'oh poor old Zeb this and poor old Zeb that' they say it in jest but I know they actually mean it. It makes me doubt my own judgement. Partly because I suspect he is feeling the onset of a little arthritis which is why I've kept the jumping to a minimum, will he be alright with the odd little jumping session still? I'm talking nothing over 1ft 9" by the way.

just casue you might not do well isnt a reason for not doing it, go have fun trying, i once did a ODE and did naff in the XC to the point where my horse wouldnt do the water jump, would not go faster than a trot, stopped and jumped from a stand still over every fence and eventually was lapped by the horse that started after me,

doesnt matter though i had fun the horse loved it once it had a bum to follow and it was a good day, i still did well in the dressage and showjumping

Lol thanks S&W! I'm not worried about how well we will do as it's pretty much guarantee'd that we'll be eliminated as Zeb us such a wimp when it comes to jumping! x

It's the taking part which is the important thing. Doesn't matter whether you win or not and who gives a stuff what other people think!!

Go for it, have fun and take lots of piccies :D

Do it! Zeb isn't too old at all, he'd tell you if the workload was too much for him!

I say go for it - you can go round at your own place and if you're not happy stop!

I reckon the old guy would LOVE it!!!
