I CANTERED on a hack!!
Wahooooooooooooooooooo :clapping::dance:
About friggin' time and all! It was gorgeous weather for it today, I tacked up and went (On my own)
Got to the woods and he was so chilled, I pushed him into trot and the sun was shining and the grass track just looked too good to ignore so I thought, if I don't do it on a day like this, I never will.
'Dexter, canter!!' squeezed him on and off I was going! SH****T lost my stirrups, brought him back to trot. Sat more quietly and off we went!! Oh my god it felt AMAZING! It felt like he was really striding out in his canter, he was getting faster, but in a good way so we was perhaps actually verging on nearly a gallop and I must of been the worlds biggest geek, but there was know one around and as I stood forward in my stirrups .. whilst my hair blew back in the wind (Lmao :lol: ) I just said out loud ' I'M F***KIN DOING IT, I'M CANTERING!! WOOOOOO!!' & hackled to myself like an old hag. Lmao :lol:
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it was sooo goood, then we got to the trees and I whacked my head through a few branches and thought I was going to get knocked out as Dexter pone cantered on, oblivious to the fact I was getting walloped by trees! But it was all worth it!!
Steadied him down and he had perfect brakes, what a gent :)
I was ringing everyone whilst we was finishing the walk through the woods like, OMG, I'm on dexter now, and i've just cantered! EEEK! People must of thought I was nuts but I was seriously over the moon. Can't wait to do it all again! I even aimed him at a teeny weeny little log and was going to pop it, he avoided it lol so didn't quite make it!
It would of been what i'd call a perfect hack, until on the way back on the road riding towards home, some stupid little dogs ran at him via a hedge in a garden and was barking like mad and they panicked D man because he couldn't see where they was coming from so he broke into a trot and started going sidewards down the road, getting quite strong, traffic stopped for us whilst I tried to calm him down, which I was greatful for.
He then went back into walk but got really silly, spooking at everything and bunny hopping so we rode some more but a bit further down I dismounted, spoke to him for a bit and walked him, then so he didn't think I'd quit I got back on and rode him the last few yards down the road, he was as good as gold. Deffinatley hasn't put me off! He was just on edge after them dogs, yet he didn't bolt so it's all good I guess.
Gave him lots of pats/hugs/carrots when we got back and thanked him for looking after me so well.
Ahh hes such a good boy I just felt I had to share. I'm so sorry I got no pics :( My horsey friend is coming next weekend though and vowed she would take piccys so fingers crossed I'll have some for them! In the mean time you'll just have to take my word for it ;) :D
