Lulu is ill....

My poor little Lulu has colic :sad-no::sad-no::sad-no::sad-no:

Went up the yard last night to put some hay in the field and do the water and she was laying down which is most unlike her... walked towards her and she was moving her head backwards and forwards towards her tummy, she got up and was swishing her tail around a lot and pawing and kicking her back legs up at her tummy....que me frantically calling the vet who told me to walk her for 15 minutes then stable her till he got there, did that and she seemed a little better after about 5 mins of walking, anyway, vet arrived checked her over and decided he didnt think she had a twisted gut so gave her a laxative and a painkiller, we monitored her for half an hour and she wasnt getting any better so he decided to take her his yard so he could monitor her some more.....

her temperature was up so he thinks she has an infection, shes now on antibiotics and pain killers

ive spoken to him this morning and she had a comfortable night and has improved a lot so is coming home later this afternoon hopefully

Poor girlie,

I didnt think vets advised walking them anymore, it used to be the thing you used to do but now a lot say not to as it tires them out too much to fight any problems but it is better than a twisted gut and surgery

i think the general consensus is to walk them for no more than 15 minutes, otherwise, like you say, they can get too tired....

shes deffinately coming home today, just had a call from the vets and shes a lot better...
