Here's the video! She's a bit on/off at first as that was the warm up, but I think you can definitely see a difference as the lesson goes on. She still has the odd *defiant* moment but they are few and far between :)

Thanks for posting. Really interesting to watch.

I admit I had to listen to it without sound (OH watching TV!), but what is your instructors opinion on use of the leg? I ask only because I'm trying to learn what's right.

To be honest we've only had the one lesson with her so far and we've only really scratched the surface with the basic aids! She was encouraging me to keep counting to 3 - one 1 I play with the reins (piano fingers she says!), 2 she softens, 3 I send her on. She felt really tired during the lesson so wasn't moving off my leg as well as usual, hence me nagging a lot. She actually felt like she had a lot less impulsion than it appears in the video, so maybe I was just expecting something different.

My canter transition is appauling  I just flop! We'll definitely be working on that. I'll report back after each lesson and will hopefully be able to get quite a few videos. I'm looking forward to seeing how me and Saf develop with this new way of teaching. It seems so simple yet when I try and put it into practice I'm huffing and puffing in minutes  She competes successfully at PSG though so I'll be soaking up every word!

Thanks.

I look forward to your future updates.

It's great to have vids. I know what you mean though, the feel can be different from the picture - sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse! It's always best when it's the former!

You both look fab together hun! Julie is a brilliant instructor and you will go far with her, she taught my friend for a while on her highland pony. I'd love some lessons off her on my ex racer cos really want to get him into dressage, he is extremely green though and hard work to ride and i never seem to have the time!

Thanks :D My friend has a big posh warmblood and when she got him he was a mentalist so she didn't ride him unless Julie was there for about 2 months! She absolutely swears by her teaching, it's very exciting for me!
