I've had Dina for 6 whole months! :D
So here's here story so far
My friend and I went to visit the lady who she bought H, the shetland from. She breeds arabs, and so clearly we had to have a good look around the yard and then helped the lady with all her chores, as she does everything on her own. I already had in my mind that I wanted to loan a mare to breed a foal by Streem from.
The lady mentioned in convosation that Medina (as she was then called) was for sale. I feel in love immediately, and asked if she'd consider loaning her. She wasn't sure.
This was her on that day.

On the way home, my friend and I talked and thought long and hard about her. Although it was my choice, we kind of decided to buy her!!! Oops! She was an 8 year old barely handled mare, who was very shy of people and very handy with her back end. What were we thinking!
Anyhow, had her vetted and breeding swabbed and she passed.
We travelled down and bought her home.
Just got home

and in the round pen for a leg stretch

and a roll!

I then got kicked adjusting her rug straps and broke my knuckle... I had been warned!
The first day we let her out, it took 2 and a half hours to catch her (she wasn't used to it)
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g312/bridie2006/editedmedinaandco013.jpg
and she met friends over the fence
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g312/bridie2006/editedmedinaandco012.jpg
She has slowly learnt to tie up and started to let me pick her feet up and touch her back end.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g312/bridie2006/editedmedinaandco006.jpg
and met Champ over the stable door (actually we were trying to find out if she was in season!)

She became more confident and we began free schooling

and her condition improved.
I went to an arab show with my friend and her stallion and decided I wanted to give it a go with Dina, so I bought this...

and she got turned out with another horse... The very dominant Bridie... They had fun!

The catching problem was pretty much resolved and we ditched the headcollar!

I had a very special birthday present

She went to school at the end of May to be backed.

She went to her first show in June, a specialist arab show, and came second in her class. She qualified for the international show to be held in Essex later in the year, although she did not go, as it would have been too much. No pics, as I only have pro ones.
On the way home, I had to do an emergency stop and she fell in the trailer. I thought she'd never go back in, but a few weeks later we were out showing again and she loaded like a pro.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g312/bridie2006/Dinashow035-1.jpg
She is fully backed now, and should be home, but is staying where she is, at school, as I slipped and broke my leg. Unfortunately that put an abrupt end to our showing season, but we will be back out again next year.
We decided not to cover her this year, as she needed so much handling and education, but plan to let her meet Streem early next year.
So our Six month owniversary!!!!!!!!!
To Dina!!!!!!!!!!!
