I usually ride out at the weekend with another lady who also rides an ex racer and our boys are such a credit to their breed as they are so well behaved.
We have had other horses with us on our rides without any bother but today we had another TB (17 years old!) with us and when we got to the place on the track that we normally canter on, my friend likes to be in front on her horse as he can get strong if he's behind and Chip is happy to go behind so we were 3rd in line today.
As we started to canter, the lady on the older TB kept pulling him up as he can get strong and Chip decided to overtake as he was getting impatient.......... the next thing I knew we were in a flat out gallop, wizzed past the horse in front and we were off. :ashamed: He was going so fast that he didn't even see the scary log that he usually spooks at  I looked round to see the elderly horse galloping behind us and my friend had managed to slow her horse and he was cantering sideways up the hill!
I did say 'steady' and 'woahhh' and for some reason I told him to 'stand' which he didn't listen to thankfully or else I would have been flying without horse  When I decided it was really time to stop as we were nearing the top of the hill, he was really easy to pull up, using the 'stop a race horse' technique :D
So it was great fun but I'm not sure that the other lady will want to join us again even though we tried to convince her that we usually have a nice controlled canter
Chip hadn't even worked up a sweat by the time we got back ......
What a little monkey :D
