Before the snow came, not looking too obese. And some tendon boots I won in a raffle.

Your bond together clearly shines through! Has he stopped bucking whilst being ridden? I dont mean to sound patronising but it could be pain related, if he is still bucking it might be worth getting him checked over. If he has stopped or if you have had him checked then I guess it was just down to naughtiness.
As I said I can see you have a clear bond with this cheeky chap and its lovely to see x

ETA: its lovely to see a healthy native living naturally in the field and not rugged up to the eyeballs! Lovely boy and a good doer which is lovely to see. He looks like a gem! x

What a naughty boy, sorry but that did make me chuckle as I've got one that behaves the same when the mood takes him. Well done you for sticking with him.
When he'sgood he's very,very good, when he's bad he's horrid!

Lovely pics, and amazing video! You have come such a long way - he has obviously been a real challenge but you have done such a great job of bringing him on.

What video editing software do you use? You've done it really well.

Thanks everybody! That stuff on the video isn't even half of what he used to do and is pretty mild in comparision to some of the stunts he used to do, but the main thing is how good he is now, he's just a little star. I don't think he'll ever be a push button pony to be honest, but he tries his heart out and has taught me a lot.

Velsmum, shortly after I got him and he started playing up we had everything checked. It basically turned out to be naughtiness, he is a lot better now. He does throw the occassional buck, usually when he's feeling fresh or excited, but he is a lot better. I agree though that it is extremely important to get everything checked before you assume it's behavioural.

ZeitgeistMom, I use Sony Vegas. I downloaded it [illegally :ashamed: ] off the internet. It takes a while to get used to, but is really good!

Yes, it's nice having him out all natural. I think a lot of people forget that horses are horses at the end of the day!
Yeah, the Highlands are cold! And I live in the Highlands, so he is in his natural habitat, haha. Though funnily enough, he haaaates the rain. He gets really miserable when it rains.

Wow he was a handful but you rode him beautifully...just carried on like nothing happened. He's a gorgeous boy xx My in-laws live in Comrie near Crieff, Perthshire and I always notice ponies around there are un-rugged! Not like my Southern New Forest x big Jessie!!!

Wow, what a difference in him! He looks so much more relaxed in the second half of that video, he clearly trusts you and is obviously right to do so.

He looks great in the snow too - love the fluff!

Grey Haven; Haha, it wasn't always like that! Most of the naughty stuff in that video are from this year. I haven't go any videos or many photos from when I first got him last summer which was when he was extremely bad. I was an absolute state, I'd never sat on a horse that had bucked or reared let alone to the extend and extremity he used to do it. So there were lots of tears and a lot of shoddy riding to begin with ! But I like to think I've learnt more on him than I would have on a more well behaved pony. Thank you very much!

Madbee; Thank you. Yes he is a lot more relaxed these days and I am too!

He's gorgeous! I'm so jealous of all your native ponies. They're just so pretty and wonderful. Here in the US I'm stuck with my stunted stock horse who I pretend is a cob

He is gorgeous!! Love him!! You stayed on well with his nutty antics!!
My Fell pony isn't rugged up and won't be as she is bred to survive the weather of Cumbria, but my Friesian X Cob has just been rugged as she hasn't got a thick coat at all.
