Hiya, due to a massive change in circumstances my baby has to go out on full loan. I'm gutted but it has to happen, is it usually easy to find a loaner? Paddy is 14.2 trad coloured, 6 years, excellent temprement, would excel at showing classes (in the right hands) he can be ridden by novices but would prefer someone with experience as he needs a little more schooling. I really do not want to have to sell him, are people willing to loan ponies like my boy? Any advice, reassurance or anything really would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance xx

aww, this must be really hard for you.fortunatley he sounds like the sort of horse that most people want to loan, so i'm sure you will have lots of people offer to loan him off you, meaning you will have lots of people to choose from, and you can pick someone you like and who you think will take good care of him. there are quite a few pwople on here who loan, and adore and really look after their loan horses and that will hopefully give you some reassurence. good luck with it. big hugs Angie xxx

I'm sure you'll be abvle to find someone. People may be a little put off by the snow though, thinking they will get little riding in for the next few months. Are you willing for him to move or do you have riding facilities where you are now? Make sure you get a contract signed by both of you. My borrdmare Dancer is on Full loan back in Scotland. She is being looked after well but she doesnt update me as often as i would wish. Mitch is on part loan, just to help exercise him really. Its alot more casual and we dont have a contract.

i have a couple of mine on loan to me, the longest one has been 3 years. as angie said you will probably have loads of interest so you can find the 'right' person to look after you boy! make sure you stipulate aswell that you want regular updates. good luck in finding the right person xx

Im sure you'll manage to loan him out. Maybe someone from here might be prepared too.......you should post another pic. I would thoroughly vet who he is going to, make sure they have arrangements in place for him and ask if you can see him every few months, just so you have piece of mind. You could draw up a contract but in not sure if they really mean anything??

Thanks guys, yeah I will put an advert on the classifieds and see who responds, he's such a little sweetie I'm just so scared that he would be mistreated or something, no-one can love your baby like you can can they? I love him so much and its killing me that he's got to go to a new mom for a while :(

I'm sorry to hear this but I have my fingers crossed for you to find the right person!

I part-loan my pony and know many full loaners, and they love their horses to pieces. I've often said that I actually treat my pony better because she isn't mine, as I have no excuse to be lazy with jobs etc, and many agree so don't worry in the right hands your boy will be nicely looked after plus you're well within your rights to pay him a visit whenever as he is yours.

And since its so upsetting for you to see him going out on loan, write up a 4 week contract which allows you to end the loan if you're not feeling too happy about it, and also allows you to pick out the right person for you in the next few months. Always right out a contract and then you'll have a happy loan. :)

Best of luck! Keep us updated on how it goes!

Hiya Guys

I've written my advert and CautionToTheWind has proof read for me - many thanks for that :o)

Just out of curiosity what weight do you think he'd be able to carry.....

Not sure when to advertise especially with the weather the way it is :(

How big is he? He looks a sturdy type, and very handsome, I'm sure you'll get some interest.

He's a lovely type and height :)

I'm not too sure about weight, but because of his stockiness you wont have a problem finding someone for him! I guess if he were mine I wouldn't want more than 15 stone on him? But that really is a rough guess, he may well be able to carry more.
Best of luck, like others have said you wont have any trouble!

Welllll..... I have a lovely girly coming to look at my lad on Sunday :cheekywink:
Only placed the ad on Tuesday and was really shocked at the response..... did have one lady ask if I'd allow him to be moved to Ayreshire - even though my ad clearly stated MAY move him to a yard LOCALLY (to me - Birmingham) for the right person.... haha.....
But yep, to keep you all updated - someone coming to see him Sunday :):) hope she likes him :)
Thanks everyone for the replies and reasurrance x

I hope you find a suitable second Mum for beautiful boy (wow he truly is a stunner!!) I am a loaner myself, I am lucky enough to have found my best friend Patsy and I just wanted to say their a lots of people just like me that will love and cherish your boy as I do my little lady, luckily I was able to move Patsy to my yard some 50miles away from her Mum so I make sure every Sunday night that I sit and write an e mail to her owners one from her and one from me to tell them all the news and the fun we have been having. I m sure you find some one who is perfect (if not he can come live with us hehehe)
