Nearly half way through winter lol and really looking forward to show season starting up and riding Row again :)
So I was wondering what showing classes Row would suit. I know coloured or appaloosa classes if there are any but would he suit Riding horse or hack? He is really fine with floaty paces.
I would really like to do lots of local shows and then aim for a county show if all is going well on top of his dressage :)
oh and pic in case someone hasn't seen him:

I think he'd make a really striking hack, would make a change from all the bays and chestnuts!

not meant in anyway an insulting or rude way, but i would think he isnt quite elegant enough for a hack, they are really tricky to properly define and find a good hack, they tend to also be real dasiy cutting horses and i seem to rember rowan has a fairly round action, whcih is good but not really what you would see in a hack, he also being a typical Appy type is quite stock horse in the body so maybe a little heavy on top for a hack, i would say he is more riding horse but not chunky enough for a hunter

I dont take it offensively, I know what you mean. He is half welsh and 1/4 tb. His legs are just as fine as my tb but his body is a lot more welshy and chunkier and more powerful.
He has really dressagy paces which is what confuses me about classes.
I took my tb into riding horse and they said she was too fine for riding horse but she was just as fine as Row which is why I thought he may be a hack.

I'd go for riding horse for the same reasons that s&w gave :) Reckon a really big burgundy, gold, black browband would look stunning on him too.

hacks are really really difficult to define and pick what you would think is right or a good example, best thing is to maybe go watch a few county calsses, the other class to maybe try would be intermediate show riding type, which is another kind of odd not sure how to define it type,

he is similar build to kizzie she is again quite stock horse build on top, i think kiz possibly has a touch more bone but she is a little smaller maybe, i show her as a 15hh show hunter and she has always done quite well,

Riding horse for me!

As for any coloured browband, he's already so coloured himself, So i wouldnt choose anything too wacky. Like Twizzel said, burgandy would look smart. Maybe see if you can find one thats mostly one colour?

Deffo not a hack not refined enough. He could do rh classes but he does look quite small what height is he.

I define ISRT as just a big show pony. Darli is too heavy for this class he is definitely a hunter but he does do riding horse classes and does ok in them.

Darli is only 150.2cm and he does the riding horse classes. He is generally always the smallest in the class at affiliated as of course some arent even 15.2 but thats another story!!!!!

At three and a half he still has some growing to do then. Good luck with him whatever you decide. Its all trial and error really. Put him in a class you think he would be ok and the judge will not be long in telling you if he isnt true to type so you will find out.

Great thankyou!! :D guess it will have to be lots of trial and error but a starting place of riding horse is a good start :)
