Ok, before I put anything in the tracing horse section I thought I would ask a couple of questions here first if that is ok.
I know we all like to know a bit about our horses past. Now Ihave been trying to find out info on my lad on and off for qute a few years but with no luck. Maybe I am looking/asking in the wrong places.
My real question is what is the longest you have own a horse/pony before finding out about their past?
I mean I have had my lad about 17 years so am I wasting my time now trying to find anything out??????

I will put a proper post in the tracig section. But he was brought from a dealer who I know has sinced pasted on. He was a tiny youngster, no freeze mark no chip.........no passport (thery did notexist when I got him).
I don't know what dealers are like for keeping records or whether it is more a caser of one horse in one horse out??????

You just never know when luck can strike!
I took my first pony to a show with the shetlands years and years ago and someone recognised him. I thought, ok, he is a Shetland x Dartmoor, not that many about, but he could pass for a huge odd shaped shetland, easy to get confused?
She mentioned that he had 3 teeth mark in his left ear, which he did, so i then thought, ok maybe not
Turned out she had gotten to known him after seeing him in the farmers field for so many years, where he had just been abandoned. My mom then bought him, and she never found out where he had gone.
I would love to find out about Spud's past, but i cant remember the sale i got him from, and to be honest, if by the grace of god i managed to find the travellers who abused, neglected and beat the hell out of him, i would be in deep **** myself!
Id love to find the person who competed Scottie upto the levels he did when he was younger, and the person who trained him - they did a ****** good job!

I just worry that I have left it too long to find any thing out.

By chance actually I was looking for a horse I used to ride, and she ended up a member on here! Last I heard he was doing well XC and was very happy in his 'new' homr (he had been there 3 years lol)
With Spock it is so hard as he came over from Ireland and I bought him off a dealer (the good kind). I don't have her number or anything but I do know a few people wwho know the lady after 6 years I would love to know more about him.

Its a long time but then you never know who may become a member on here or another forum. I've been searching for my lad's history & have managed to get some information but not actually find the lady... my theory to this is to post on as many forums & tracing horses type websites as you can! Good luck x
