We have had Bambi up for sale. :sad-no:Some people came to view her, they brought their own rider. First Rhiannon rode Bambi and she did very well.
Then their own expert rider rode her and put her through all paces. She even jumped her and Bambi looked fabulous! Next, the little girl who Bambi was meant to be for ride her-oh dear, Bambi put her head down and made for the gate! Of course Bambi had got very excited with jumping, so it wasn't a good idea for her to ride straight after! The upshot was -the lady was very keen on Bambi but wanted her on a months trial, (which I refused)
Anyway, now Rhiannon wants to keep Bambi and learn to jump- so we have taken Bambi off the market and she is staying with us!:D:D:D
Thanks for reading!

That's good news. But you have your work cut out keeping Rhiannon interested throughout winter. I really hope you do Ness. Good luck!

THanks for the replies.
We are now thinking of getting a sharer, too for Bambi.
Smoke-I think Rhiannon seeing these other girls riding Bambi made her realise what she would be missing!

That's good that you're keeping her but can i ask why you refused the months trial? If i was buying another horse i'd want it on trial first to see if we 'clicked' and the horse was suitable.

Oh I'm glad Bambi isnt going anywhere she is lovely.
I think its sometimes a bit of a task keeping some youngsters interested and I think Rhiannon will love jumping and now you have a school she will be flying in next to no time.
Will be looking forward to seeing her progress and more photos of mum and daughter out hacking together :D

I was worried that something might happen to the pony, while she was there!
(but, I think I had already changed my mind about selling anyway and that gave me an excuse to change my mind!)

Thanks Daytona, yes it will be much easier to teach Rhiannon, now we have a school. Its hard to teach someone when they are riding behind you! lol

I'm so glad you've decided to keep her, I love Bambi! I think a sharer is a really good idea, it takes some of the pressure of Rhiannon (and you!) and it'll help cover the costs.

Aw thats good, maybe it was just something you had to do to make Rhiannon realise that she would miss her. Good luck for the jumping and with finding a sharer.

Great news Ness, now all you've got to do is keep the interest up over winter and try not to have your heart in your mouth when the jumps get higher:cheekywink::lol:

That's good that you're keeping her but can i ask why you refused the months trial? If i was buying another horse i'd want it on trial first to see if we 'clicked' and the horse was suitable.

Have to say I wouldn't agree to a trial either. Is all very well but if something happens to the horse (get's injured etc),how many buyers are actually going to go ahead with the sale, not many I'm willing to bet, then owner is left with a crocked horse.
This has happened to a friend of mine twice now,let people have horse on trial, and one was like an RSPCA case when she went to check all ok,other injured her tendon when escaped from a field, and they brough it straight back.Out come for my friend: one horse that took months to recover and get weight back on,and another that has had to have surgery and months off work, both very costly for her in terms of time and money, and all she was trying to do was help out buyers and make sure horses went to the right home.

I'm sure there are honest people out there, but I'm afraid I would never agree to a trial,as if it all goes to pot is the owner that is left high and dry.

Aww she is staying thats great, a bit silly of the people to get her all hyped up and then put a little kid on her

Excellent news! :) By getting another sharer (I'm assuming another little girl rider), this might encourage Rhiannon even more to love her pony! ...Someone to share all the fun with. So a good idea I think.

Thanksf for all the replies.
Dun Blonde-that's what I was afraid of!
Smile and Wave-yes, but really I shouldn't have let them, either!
Maria-that's the plan-here's hoping...
Well Rhiannon and I had a lovely hack tonight anyway!

Thanks Jane-it is a relief. On Sunday when I was grooming Bambi, ready for the buyers, I felt like a Judas!:sad-no:

The sharer might be a good idea. You obviously don't really want her to go and a sharer would take the (perceived) pressure off Rhiannon and perhaps rekindle her enthusiasm. I suppose a month's trial does seem like a lot, a couple of weeks maybe, but we needn't worry about that now!

ness

I would only agree to a trial if I knew the people, Jill!

Yay im glad she's staying for now. A sharer is a great idea as Bambi will get more exercise which is nice for her & the fact that she is not readily available on certain days may make Rhiannon more keen to ride her on the days that the sharer hasnt got her.

For future reference -Not sure i would let a horse/pony go on a months trial either if im honest. I think i would be inclined to say the pony stays at current yard for duration of the trial if it were me, or that they can come & trial the pony at different times over the next week or two.

THat would seem a good idea, Osci. I will remember that for if she goes up for sale again!
