Misty died in my arms today...

She suffered the same as Loui. :(

I had just found her a lovely home and she was due to go on sunday.

RIP little girl, you served people with everything you had. You will be sorely missed.

Thank you guys for being so good about this. Im glad you guys knew me before this last year as i would be highly suspicious of any owner posting about 6 dead horses in a year. How awful does that sound. Im surprised none of you are accusing me of being negligent, wouldn't blame you.

The kick is that i was so upset at seeing loui down in the field and distracted by covering him over till the knacker man could come i didn't put the little gate on the latch..hence misty repeating the incident herself.

I didn't know one person could keep going this ashamed. But i have now perfected my brick wall that i shove all emotions behind and carry on. As long as that stays solid i can carry on as normal.

I'm all for brick walls. We don't build 'em for nothing. Sarah, I know how you have beaten yourself up over everything that's happened, but the truth is, you are a great owner, and don't deserve any of it. You have just had so much terrible bad luck. You will look back one day at this terrible time and wonder how the hell you got through it. And you will be so proud of yourself for having picked yourself up and carried on despite it all. Huge hugs. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh Sarah, don't beat yourself up. This is a tragedy and you don't deserve it. Look at the number of horses that you have helped and as ZM said, be proud of yourself. xxxxxxxxx

Sarah, I am so sorry that this has happened to you. Bless Louis and Misty.

The truth is you have saved many many more horses than you have lost and I don't think many/any of us could say that. We have our one or two horses and we tootle along looking after them and sometimes tragedy strikes and we mourn for our lost loves.

You save and save and save poor horses and ponies who flourish under your care. They come to you a bit crazy or a bag of bones and you sort them out and send them on to new homes. The numbers of horses and ponies you take, you are bound to suffer more losses than people with one or two. It isn't your fault at all.

The fact that you took crazy Riff who nobody wanted and who was going to be pts. Scooby as well, a little sweet lost soul. Now he's like a super star and I have seen that for myself.

And these are just two that I know personally.

So, you may need a brick wall to save your sanity but not to hide from anything. You are one of the best. xx

Life really isnt fair. You are one of the most caring of people. YOu take on challenges that others leave and you never get the credit you deserve. You have been through so much I am so sorry for all your losses it is nothing you have done. YOu have given all these horses love care and understanding and shown true grit in the face of adversity.
So sorry hun
RIP Misty xxxxx

Sasca, I did some reading up of your previous posts, I was not a member last winter. I do not know you, all I know is what I have read in posts of yours and other members replies. When I read some of your posts I feel how lucky these ponies and horses are that there are people like you around, and then despair that people like you are needed in the first place. When I read of your losses I feel real sadness and despair at your misfortunes, the first thing that comes to mind is how much tragic luck you have suffered, no thoughts of negligence or whatever, and I really admire your resilience and I actually say to myself out loud, good god I hope she does not throw in the towel!
You are younger than me, but you have achieved so much more, you are an inspiration. Brick walls are all good and well, but if you are ever in need of an ear or a shoulder, I am sure there are plenty of members willing, me included.
Big hugs xxx
