I've been watching racing for years now (my grandma is to blame, she got me into it!). I'm more a jump racing fan because year after year the horses come back and you follow them and it just keeps you coming back.

I was just wondering about racing fans favourite equine stars? Here are mine:

FLAT

Lammtarra
Just the most gorgeous chestnut, not that big but stunning to see. Fell in love because of the romantic but tragic story behind his young trainer's murder, and told parents he would win the derby at 16-1. When he came storming home apparently from nowhere none of us believed our eyes and parents kicked themselves for not listening. He went on to battle to victory in big races including the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, with me following every step of the day and retired unbeaten.

Dubai Millennium
A striking bay with this air about him that just set him apart. I remember him accelerating away from the field in the Prince of Wales like it was nothing. Almost became more of a favourite because we lost him so tragically to grass sickness a year after retiring to stud. As a result I've followed his progeny, like Dubawi, ever since.

JUMPS

Viking Flagship
When I was younger I loved the fact that this horse was so brave in his races and really fought all the way to the line. I have a picture of him at home absolutely flying over his fences. Just a really exciting horse to watch and one you knew would give everything for you.

Gloria Victis
Never forgotten this horse, so exciting when he won the racing post chase making it all seem so easy that they entered him in the Gold cup, where tragically he was fatally injured. I was touched by the fact that McCoy spoke of him at least a year on in an interview about how sad it was to lose him. Apparently he even appeared in his DVD. It was devastating and I'll never forget feeling like I'd been punched in the stomach when I found out what happened to him :(

Red Marauder
I loved this chestnut, at least a year before he won the National someone mentioned they were aiming there, so I backed him at 40-1 and couldn't believe it watching him fight his way home through the mud- it was an insane race that one, all sorts of things happening, horses carried out and horses running across the field, but wow, he plugged on home. Amazing heart on him. Hope everyone who had said bad things about him felt bad as he had been called some names!

Kauto Star
Got to be one of my favourites, feel lucky to have been able to watch him over the past few seasons, everyone loves to see him, hope he bounces back from the King George and puts up a good show in the Gold Cup.

I don't really follow the 'gallopers' (being more of a trotting person) but you have to love Kauto Star, he just stands out from the crowd.

For me the most memorable horse is a pacer called Master T J who I won my first race on. Best day of my life.

But my all time favourite racehorse would have to be my little Vinny! It's his fault I'm addicted.

Denman for me, he just oooozes quality and is a stunning horse, this is me looking from a showing point of view.
Kauto on form is something out of this world. And there is a young chaser Rocking/Rock on Ruby, love this little horse and the way he runs.

Well I would obviously have to say Soldier Mak, however this is clearly a totally biased view and he was in fact nothing special as a racehorse but is just very special to me!

I'm another Kauto Star fan, think he's a very talented horse and is lovely to watch - very fluid and stylish.

all time favourite has to be Animated, because he's mine! haha although as a racehorse he's not likely to be anyone elses, especially not anyone who ever put a bet on him when he was racing!

Proper racers it has to be Desert Orchid, I loved him x

Denman...as the name would suggest! I love him, he's just so impressive.

Neptune Collonges too, he looks like such a fantastic spin! I'd love to rehome him when he retires...

Other than those its Rooster Booster, Menorah, Lough Derg, Madison Du Berlais, Grand Champetre, Master Minded, Big Bucks, Alfabet Suk (an old donkey I used to ride!)

There's so many!!

Desert Orchid of course, and all the big names that others have mentioned has massive potential and Frankel could go down in the history books but most of my personal racehorse experience is based around days at the Newmarket studs in the olden days

There was a stallion at the Egerton Stud in Newmarket (where Dessie retired) called Abernant. He was huge and grey but an absolute softie and we used to go and see him quite often. He was an absolute tart if you fed him polos and I sat on him more than once. When I remembered that, I didn't quite believe it but went on wiki and it was confirmed.

On the other hand, Brigadeer Gerard was at Lordship and was a complete nutcase, always locked up in a padded stable whenever anyone other than his man was around.

Had the privilege of meeting Mill Reef a couple of times

Lastly, who could ever forget Shergar. Still feel desperately sad over his end :'(

I have to add Frankel now- that is a horse which is just a joy to watch with a GIANT stride!

I have loved writing about him this season:

FRANKEL Suite 101

Loyalty demands I nominate my horse Vegas, his wetherbys name is Spite Fool but unfortunately he was last in his three starts on the flat, finishing 44 lengths behind his rivals over 7 furlongs at southwell. This was probably down to his nappy attitude and loathing of being bossed around, I can quite imagine what happened when the jockey picked his stick up.
My best horse when I worked in racing was called Bobby Socks people used to say he was flat footed and couldn't win an egg and spoon race but he did win quite a few including one at the Galway festival.
Other then that it's redrum and mill reef for me.
