Mines £72 a month DIY, for a stable and year round turnout, you can buy hay and straw off the yard owner or get your own, there's an outdoor school, to use whenever you like, or you can ride on the land, decent hacking, electric, running water, places to store your things, the yard owner just lives over the road so there's always someone to keep an eye out, also the yard owner is a riding instructor which is handy not having to travel for lessons. She also does a full or part livery on a seperate yard over the road, takes horses for breaking or schooling and does clipping or other things like that. I think I've got a good price there :)

For full livery we pay £40 per month per horse. This includes:
Stable
Secure tack room
24hr turnout in the summer
Daily mucking out
Rug changes
Daily Turnout/bring in
1 feed per day and as much hay as required
Use of the 'school' (term used lightly as it's a bit of field fenced off that gets boggy in the winter)
Good hacking
1 bag of Shavings per week

My yard is quite expensive but it's the closest one to me and is basically a 5min drive from both of my jobs and an 8minute drive from my house so it suits me to the ground even though I have considered moving!
It's £160 a month, and that's DIY
-A stable
-all year unlimited turnout
-a rubber school with jumps
-field hacking & road hacking
-horse turned out in the morning if required and brought in if required. (but should only be one of these choices per day)
- a secure tack room but I keep my tack at home
- storage
- tap/hose
- electricity points
other than that I pay for my own hay, shavings and anything else on top of that!

Hi Thingamyjig, yes it is we are lucky in that respect but just to clarify that everything I listed there is supposed to be for the full year but the horses live out 24/7 from May to November and only come in for bad weather, worming etc so for 6 months of the year they don't really need to do anything other than keep an eye on them and muck out the odd stable. They will bring Zeb in for me if I have a lesson after work for example and have a tea ready for him but otherwise he stays out.
They are lovely people and we can keep the horses in when we need to in the summer for example if I am showing but otherwise there far less for them to do so it balances it out I suppose.
Sorry if that was a bit waffly!
How does it work at other yards?

I pay £25 per week (£108 pcm) per horse. This includes Year round turnout - 24/7 in the summer, stables, ad lib haylage, use of outdoor floodlit school and individual tack rooms.
It's not the tidiest of all yards - I've been at some much smarter but the scholl is olympic sized, the grazing is good, the stables dry and warm and the hacking is AMAZING! People are really nice and I've grown to really like it there!

That sounds good Loosey, I really miss having a proper school but a floodlit one would be brilliant. That's defnitely something I would look for in a new yard.

I pay £30 per week for DIY which includes all year turnout, horse walker, sand school and cross country course. I then pay £7 a week in summer and £10 a week in winter for as much haylage as i can use.
School has lights so it can still be used in winter. The yard is also a riding school so i can have lessons on site in the school and on the xc course. I can also have Magic schooled if i want. The tackroom is very secure and i also have my own storage space in a barn.

Both mine are DIY on a private yard, there's my 2 and their horse so I basically do my own thing. I have 24/7 turnout all year if I want it, stable, hay shed/feed shed, secure tack room, good hacking, fab grazing, someone on site pretty much all the time plus the friends who own the yard will let Mac out in the morning or bring him in if everythings left ready at no extra charge. I pay £18 a week for Mac and £9 for TJ which I think is very reasonable.

I pay £47.50 per week for part livery so they do him 5 days a week. It also includes all bedding and forage.
If Bailey goes onto the working livery where they use him for the riding school for half of the week it'll be halved so £23.75 per week.
There's a school, jumping field and decent hacking. It's a long walk to the field though!

Wow..... my yard seems expensive.... I pay £32.00 per week for a large stable (but daughter has a 17hh horse!)... We get grass turn out - restricted in the winter ;-( The use of a good 60x20 school.... good hacking - but that's all. It's expensive - but convenient as close to a Riding Center (5 mins away) which holds good events weekly. Also very close to motorway junction.... for competitions.

Various DIY yards I've been on:
£25/wk, stable, field for turnout (1 field used constantly through winter and summer, very poached), use of sandschool, limited hacking, £5 per week for poor quality straw/ okish hay.
£25/wk to include stable, fab turnout, floodlit school with rubber surface, good hacking, not including bedding, can't remember about hay!
£30/wk good size stable, ok turnout (good enough but struggling with grass now), good hay and straw included, sandschool, xc jumps, great hacking, isolated village- takes ages to get anywhere from there!!
£75/wk part livery, turnout and bring in, rug changes, muck out, 1 bale shavings/wk, on a busy riding school with huge indoor school, another smaller indoor, outdoor school and horse walker. Limited hacking, turnout in large groups but very boggy in winter.

Eeeek, mine is expensive!!
I pay £140 per month in the summer for grass livery, rugs etc done if needed, holding for farrier vet.
And I pay £280 per month in the winter for full livery. Huge stable and daily turnout etc. All feed hay and bedding included. Rugs on/off. Holding for farrier and vet.
Yard facilities include excellent off-road hacking including forest and massive beach. Use of two cross-country courses for free whenever we like. There is also a floodlit school however it isn't surfaced - just grass. Large fields with plenty of grass, all year turnout.

if i was keeping them at work, for staff it is £177 a month, thats for staff, we feed in the morning and turnout and bring in if necessary, you can put them on full livery, pulling, hacking, clipping etc if you want, there is a H/W indoor out door, all weather turnout, decent hacking, grass turnout most of the year from about november to march they are in the all weather, there is always good qualified knowledgeable staff on site (which to me is most important) monthly vet visits three times a week in stud season weekly farrier visits, we handle everything like worming, vaccinations shoeing etc shower room solarium,

I pay £20 per week, which includes all hard feed, hay and straw. We have excellent off road hacking some on private land and woodland which also includes a hunt course, small xc course, jump field (no school though, we school in one of the fields). He is also fed every day and rug checked and held for the farrier if Im not there. The farmer who owns the yard has various big fields dotted around and so for the winter Bill is out in the 12 acre field with automatic water trough and no poo picking whoop whoop!

In Oxfordshire, I was paying £90 a week for part livery with straw, hay, hard feed, mucking out and turning out etc. Then £45 a week grass livery in Summer but could bring in for DIY as price included straw and hay. It had horsewalker, post and rail turnout, farm ride, floodlit outdoor school and good hacking.
I have now moved back to Staffs and my old yard and I pay £25 a week for DIY. We have a large outdoor floodlit school but surface isn't brilliant. We have a jump paddock too. We can ride around the farm in the summer and the hacking is not bad with mainly hacking on roads but some bridleways. I love this yard as we can get on and do our thing and there is always someone to help out if you are going away etc!

Fruddy - I want to be at your yard!!!! WOW!
Its a fantastic yard Beks - I've been there for over eight years. We usually have a waiting list for boxes - as very few people leave once they get there.
I think what makes it such a great yard is not only the Yard Owner who runs the place with her two daughters, and they are all absolutely lovely people, who care about the liveries as much as their own horses, but also the mix of people who stable there - we have competition riders, pleasure riders, people who own horses but don't ride and children with ponies. Everyone gets along really well - not all are great friends and socialise together, although many do, but there is absolutely none of the bitchiness or cliqueyness that you find on some other yards. The invitation to join in days and nights out is there if you want it, no bother if you don't!
I consider myself truly lucky to stable there and it is worth every single penny that I pay in livery.
