My horse must be the only horse in the world which can injure himself on box rest :ashamed:
Got home from work last friday and went down the stables to see him and he turned his head towards me and I thought oh god what have you done one of your eyes is half shut!
So went and had a look at his eye and there didn't seem anything untoward there but he had a bit of clear discharge so I put some antibiotic cream in his eye as I thought it was the usual prpblem of conjunctivitis which he's prone to getting.
Anyhow got up Saturday morning to find his face all swollen and his eye was red hot :scared: So Immediatly called the vet and when he came poor finnn wouldn't let him near his eye so we had to sedate him.
The vet then put some dye in his eye and this soon showed the problem the poor lad had a grass seed lodged in his eyeball
So the vet removed it and confirmed he has scratched his eye but there didn't seem to be any other damage (Thank God!)
Only my horse can do this on box rest honestly he doens't half know how to bleed me dry with all these vets bills  But the main thing is he's all fine now and within 24 hours his eyes back to normal :)
