Sorry if this is in the wrong place, don't know wether to put this in industry and training or here, so put it here as there are more viewings.
Anyway, i'm in year 9 and starting to think about options etc. I was wondering if anyone knows the criteria or has done GCSE riding as part of their P.E. I have googled it but would like to hear some more personal experiences too. I am also aware that it is not the only sport you have to take and am fine with that.

If my parents are sceptical my opinion is that it is the same as taking art (i just dont really want to!). It's fairly (not completly unlikley in some cases though) that i am ever going to be a sports person or something like an artist so hopefully my parents will be fine with it.
I have heard things like it is "easy" and "hard" at the same time so i am slightly confused too! By the way, i am not a begginer rider and have got lots of time to build some more skills. I am crossing my fingers that my school actually does it though!
Thankies in advance!

It depends what exam board you take it with from what I've heard.
One of them has a really simple criteria, i.e basic riding skills - not sure what it completely entails but it is just things like simple courses and riding ability.
However, I think it's OCR, have a really difficult exam board where you have to be able to complete things like turn on the haunches, big courses etc to be able to pass with an A - you can do simpler things, but it won't get the higher marks to be able to pass highly.
So that's why there's really mixed results about it. I didn't take p.e myself, but I know people that have taken it on different boards and have had hugely varied criteria.

I can't really help you on this one because when I wanted to do it for my GCSE P.E i wasn't allowed! & that was the end of that really..

I always wanted to do it though! Instead i got stuck with netball and table tennis ... boooring! Lol

I've never heard of it for PE, wish they did it when I was at school, good luck.

I did it as part of mine, had to jump a 3' (ish) course, show walk, trot & canter with and without stirrups, tack up/untack etc can't really remember what else but it wasn't bad! Also had to film it all instead of being assessed while I did it so anything that went seriously wrong was edited!

I had to do it for mine, it was the easiest thing ever in the world, I rode terribley, fell off, and still managed to get full marks!

It really depends on the exam board like Sazzy said, the best thing to do would be to speak to your P.E teacher, who should give you the criteria :)
