Posting on behalf of a friend.

She has been feeding the Global Herbs stuff that is supposed to help stop windsucking but it hasn't had any effect (I know it works for some horses, and not others) and she's been using it for a few months now. I said I'd post on here and ask for some suggestions on which supplements you have found have worked for your horse to reduce/stop windsucking and crib biting, rather than her trying loads of different ones that she has no idea about the success of.

(Please no comments on change the environment/routine/etc as like I said, it's not for my horse so not much I can do except from try and help by posting this :) Plus he's recovering from colic surgery so his environment/routine is stuck as it is for his recovery)

Thanks :D

The fact that he has had colic surgery makes my mind just straight to gastric ulcers. It's a very common cause of windsucking because sucking air releases natural painkillers. Has he ever been scoped for ulcers? Might be worth a shot if he hasn't because if they are there your friend can spend all the live long day trying supplements and they're not going to do much good.

Slippery elm powder is the herbal way to deal with ulcers. It coats the stomach and intestines with a lining that protects it and allows it to heal. Along with binding any harmful toxins so they get flushed out rather than hang around in the horses body.
