Just looking after an oldish mare, she's in season- dying for a man!! We are wondering if it is normal for some mares to squeal whenever you touch them?

Also is it natural for them to be "peeing" small amounts very often-(cloudy urine?) Or do you think she has an infection? Sorry no history at all on the mare but she's not young.
There are no other horses around her.

we can't remember our mares years back being like this..so advice please//thankyou

Oh yes, the 'squirting' is normal and one of the joys of having a mare!:lol:

I can't say that Tilly squeals when being touched but she is turned out with two other mares and when they are all in season together it turns into a squealing match!

I've known mares be like that. The squeely ones can get very handy with their back feet too!

Just something your going to have to put up with while shes in season.

i have had squealers in the past, bee pollen is supposed to be very good for the older mare in season, has all the right amino acids to keep those hormones in check hope this helps :D

Oh yes, Baby is spending a lot of time at the fence at the mo squealing at the two geldings next door. One of them was a colt until about 3 weeks ago. She wee's quite alot too, more so than squirting but it is common for them to squirt. Funny that she shares a field with Chip but he has no interest in madam & it seems the feeling is mutual
