I'll try and keep this short as I always babble on too much.
For those that remember I'd been riding Nycha for a couple weeks after an 7 year or so lay-off and trot was dodgy in her back legs. I got back shoes on her, gave her some time to get used to them and now we're back on board. Well we've done a lot of walking and she's fine. And we're now doing a fair bit of trotting. Now sometimes she feels a little off (nothing major, just slightly uneven) and other times, most of the time, she feels A OK. People out with me watching have said she looks fine to them. Today most of the trots we had felt brill and we had a couple canters. Now her canter feels spot on, really smooth and she seems totally happy.
I'm worried I'm doing the wrong thing riding her but everyone seems to think she's fine and any of the uneven-ness is just a little bit of stiffness and the work will help. She's certainly very happy to be out, extremely forward going and most of the time she does feel fine, she certainly feels way better than she did before I put the back shoes on, its just occasionally I think she feels a touch uneven.
What I'm going to I think is get my mum to take another video of us this week as thats when I really saw that she didn't look right. If she looks like she did last time I'll stop riding her regardless of what other people think.
Either way, even if she looks a lot better in the vid, I'm going to get the vet to check her over when he's out to do her vaccinations in november and see what he thinks.
Just want to finish with saying it was the best feeling in the world to have a (intentional!) canter in a stubble field today. I never thought I'd canter on a horse again, let alone Nycha. And boy did she enjoy it! :)
