Well we've decided to have our beloved hunter put down as my aunt doesn't want him and he's lame. We have no choice over this as hes her horse.
RIP boy, Run free for she won't let you do it on her land or ours...I hope that in doing this we are setting you free...

if he is your beloved horse then surely you can keep him or give him to a home where he can naturally live out the rest of his life rather than being ended prematurley when you do not know, for waht you have posted, what the reason for the lameness is

We have tried so so hard for this horse i cannot tell you, we have paid for 2 years for him to be in a field we pay for despite my aunt having 500 acres of land (he is her horse). He has become suddenly very alme, the farrier confirmed that its not a poisoned foot as we thought and infact is most likely in his leg/shoulder. Yes we could get a vet out, but for what? to be told to have him put down? When a horse is hopping lame and will hardly move, putting them down is probably for the best especially at his age. Do you think for one moment this is something we want to do? it is not our decision and we have no control over what the OWNER wants to do.

Hmmmm, not great that your aunt won't even get the vet out to have a look. My mare was hopping lame with a torn shoulder muscle but it healed, extremely well and she is completely sound again and can do everything.
So sad that this happens to so many horses when they are no longer any use...... As you say though you're not the owner and it must be heartbreaking for you and your family to see this going on. I take it that your parents wouldn't consider taking him off your aunts hands?
Edited to say its probably too late anyway as your post says RIP so I assume he's already dead?
