So Saturday (19th September) I went to a fun ride in glynebourne, beautiful sunny day! Been really excited about this ride for weeks!:o
My sister was on are new horse Sox (only had him for 4days) so was just going to have a nice calm ride with the odd jumpy! Me on Agord.
So set off got to the first field with the jump and photographer, both thought better do this jump to get a nice piccy!
I went first for a lead for my sister, got to the jump Agord went in a little green and jumped it with plenty of air!!! Caught me off guard a little and lost my right stirrup (doh) when he landed he went straight to the left so no chance in recovering, i hung on round his neck for a few strides wasn't going to stay on so let go and landed just on my left ankle which went under me!
Tbh i just thought i'd twisted it at first and waited for the burn to go off! Wiggled my toes and all seemed fine!
Then tried moving my ankle left and right, and thought that defo isn't right! (lots of movement inside!)
So off to hospital I go, this is when the pain really kicked in :( (enjoyed the gas and air though lol)

Xrays to find out that I had fracture my ankle in 2 places and dislocated it!
If you google 'Bimalleolar left ankle fracture dislocation' you'll see what I did!
Ok starting to get a little worried at this point! Thinking I'll go into A&E for 4hours and come out with a cast and crutches for 6 weeks and back riding again!
Oh no! dream on!
First part of the nightmare! Setting the dislocation and putting a temporary cast on, only with gas and air! (to find out later the doctors thought I'd been given morphine before they started) I was hoping they would knock me out before setting it back!
I don't wish that pain on anyone :( my sister pretty much had to pin me to the bed and I did scream a few curse words whoops!
Then ended up in hospital for 8 days and a operation! I've now got 2 plates, screws and a pin in my leg, and staples holding me skin together (going to be fun in the airports lol)
Here's some pictures from after the operation and before I got re-casted

Had a check up yesterday and my staples taken out and re-casted! Doctor seems pretty happy with it all! Cast comes off in 4 weeks, and then I've got to have another operation to take the pin out!
Fingers crossed I'll be back on a horse by Xmas!

I was sooo annoyed with myself! As some times I pass out with bad tummy ache!
But the one time I wish to pass out I don't! I was thinking in my head 'just pass out, just pass OUT! I thought I did at one point, but the doctor said I didn't lol!

I thought that too! But I found out why yesterday from the doctor!
At the moment the pin is holding my ankle in place while it heals, but once its healed I won't be able to flex my foot correctly with the pin in e.g point my toes & drop my heel.

And a very good moral that is lol!:) I think super glue is the only way I'll be able to stop falling off!
I'd only fallen off 4 days before as well! But landed on my butt! ended up with a bruised butt and pride!
This is why I thought I'd try and hang on for a bit this time!
From now on i'm going to favour the bum option!
But I did a pretty good job to get to 25yrs old to get my first broken bone, first time in hospital, first operation and first bad fall!

Ouch!
I feel for you, I really do, as you have already know, I'm just recovering from a severe ankle fracture (google Weber C fracture) and have had my cast off for 2 weeks and am only just able to drive and walk short distances again.
I have to go back to hospital in 4 weeks for another x ray and check and may, like you have to have a pin taken out. He'll decide then. I may also have to have physio. we'll see. I'm supposed to go back to work in 2 weeks time, and I'm actually looking forward to it!
Hope you don't get too bored. It does get better, but it seems like it takes forever!

That happened to my brother not so long ago. Dumb ass that he is though thought it was a pulled muscle carried on walking round on it and had my mother sports massaging it! It wasn't until his leg was the size of an elephants, his girlfriend had to trick him to take him to the hospital. He had to have the operation to put a Meccano set in there too! This is what the inside of his leg looks like

OMG just looked into your fracture! And I thought mine was bad! Glad your nearly all mended!
I know what your mean about work! I've only been off about 4 weeks and want to go back already.
I've got to have physio, but thought of ever having to put weight on that foot again scares me!

I wish! I didn't get pass the first field!
When I was leaving in the ambulance, I was watching everyone head off (it was such a sunny day!) and started crying because I was missing out! (Hadn't cried since the fall untill then, didn't cry from the pain, only because I couldn't ride) I blame the gas and air though for the crying!

It was murder to get my boot off! The fabric inside my boot has worn through, so its a nightmare to pull my foot out as my heel gets stuck in the fabric!
But I got my boot off pretty much straight after I fell off, so before it was too swollen! But it did ****** hurt to get off!
I got my jodphurs cut off though! Didn't fancy pulling them over my ankle!:sad-no:
