Sunday was our first show of the season. I decided to go all out and sewed in his plaits! And I must say they looked rather good! Especially now I've pulled his mane so its not only shorter but a bit thinner too.
We had entered in three classes, veteran in-hand, veteran ridden and 55cm jumping. Plus we'd do a clear round class too.
The judge in the veteran classes loved him!! She was gushing about how great he looked and what fab condition he was in. But I got the usual, it's hard to judge the 30 somthings against the 17 year olds. So in the in hand we got 6th out of 7. But the up side is that the woman who organises the show had entered her 37 year old pony into the class (her friend was being the handler but hurt her leg so she had to do the trot up) and realised that the age difference was huge so next year they will split the class into 16-25 and 25+ (they'll all be in the one class but judged seperatly)
Same judge for the ridden and again she was going on about how great B is :D She pulled us in 3rd in the initial line up and in the final line up we still placed 3rd!! The winning pony was 19 with a 17 year old 2nd, 30 year old B was 3rd and fourth was 18 fifth went to a 20 year old pony. So I was very chuffed!! Judge said he was just amazing, a super pony and going so well :D
We did our clear round and scooped a wee rossie for that, B was great, I was terrible but he popped them all regardless of the sack of potatoes on his back!!
Then into the jumping. We were 3rd to go and I was pooping my pants! The jumps were full up 55 - 60 cm (baring in mind I've only just started to get back into my jumping!) and the second last had scarey cockrel fillers! But B pulled it out the bag! We took the long lines to all of the jumps to get a good approach and went clear. Then on the jump off I whispered to him that we'd go inside every jump possible and he took it to heart! He was so up for it and raced round, I felt myself hesitate at the planks then gave myself a mental kick and B flew it!!! We romped home to win 2nd place!!!
So a fantastic day, the best we've ever done at that show and I can't wait to get out jumping again! (6th july!)
