And Wins!!

Went off to Milton yesterday to do the two prelims, wouldnt usually take a horse to affiliated for its first test, but Miltons only 20 min down the road, and Rorys travelling can be a bit iffy still, plus, this was possibly the only weekend day i can have off untill september!!

So he loaded and travelled there prefectly.. which is the first time we have had no kicking the living daylights out of the lorry! Unloaded, went to tick off entries and give them my dayticket for the second class, let him have a look round where we were going to have to ride, as he can be a spooky so and so!
got tacked up and on, into the warm up- his first time in an indoor school, he went straight in, and we had no spooking at the mirrors/door/viewing gallery, which was fab. Warmed up really well in walk and trot, no napping when the other horses left us inside, went to canter... and that was a little, shall we say exhuberent! No feet, two feet, other two feet, no feet on the ground.. que me grabbing neckstrap! Kicked him on through anyway and after a good canter on each rein he settled..
Went down to the arena, outside with judges box, mini trees by A, banners on the fence.. didnt take a blind bit of notice! Did a really lovely test, really rideable the whole way though, and no over excitement in the canter, i was so pleased with him but didnt expect anything great. We took his saddle off and went to have a look at scores.. 64.09%!! and second overall.. it wasnt untill later i realised the lady above me was in the Open section, so i had won the restricted, on his first ever dressage test!
We also won £8!

Back into the warm up breifly and into second test, just started to get a bit tired (due to all the earlier cantering round no doubt- but defineitely needed it!) and leaning on me a bit, still got 63.75% and was fifth.

Comments from the judge were all about his contact needing to be a little more consistent, and balance improved, would have had 8's for his free walk hadd he remained more consistent, and that he had three correct paces, when we improve the contact and balance his marks will be "alot higher", which is such good news.
So so pleased with Rory racehorse!
No pics im afraid though, i forgot the camera!

You must have been like this :D :D
His canter in the warm up sounded special!
Sounds like you got some good feed back too, also with BD you know it's quality feedback if you get what I mean.
Camera next time!!

I was so pleased with him, and a little shocked! Only thing was once we had finished, he trod on the side of a shoe, pulled it off and then trod on it, puncturing his sole, luckily very shallow, and has been poulticed etc all week with nothing out of it, shoe going back on tomorrow- he has cost me at least 3 x his winnings in vetwrap and animalintex!
