When I said my yard have no luck with foals, I was right. On Thursday we lost our new arrival Hugo (who I'd posted about earlier with pictures). I don't know the ins and outs but from what I've heard, Hugo's joins weren't functioning too well and he couldn't get up and he was found with bad pneumonia on Thursday morning.
I'm not sure what happened, but I was at the yard at 4:30 on Thursday his owner's horse box pulled up and the owner said "Kelly, watch out, Alice will be very noisy so stay close to Holly"... Holly was tied right next to Alice's (mum horse) stable. I didn't think much of it, and Alice was unloaded and lead straight into her stable, where the top door of her stable was then oddly closed. Alice started neighing quite loudly and her owner ran into her husbands arms and began crying in the middle of the block. I was still unsure so I kept myself to myself and didn't say anything, assuming maybe the foal had been separated from the mum or was just at the vets. I later found out he'd been taken with his mum to be put down because of his pneumonia/joints, very very sad for his owner and for his mum, who was transported back without her baby.
So this is just my little way of saying sleep tight little Hugo, gone far too soon.
