Uva is going to be stabled as of a week Monday, and I have never kept a horse in a stable rugged before (my previous stabled horse was unclipped and not ridden to the same extent so was never in need of a rug)

Uva is quite wimpy with regards to the cold- she was imported from Argentina so is used to a much hotter climate! The last couple of times its rained/been slightly colder she has been miserable!! She is currently turned out in a 100g filled rug at night and a lightweight rain sheet during the day.

She will be clipped shortly to add to this so will need to be rugged for this reason, I have 100g, 200g standard and a 300g combo stable rugs that came with her, and I cant help but think I need something before the 100g- a fleece/cooler type (have my eyes on the thermatex rugs, but they are sooo expensive!)

The rug would be for stable use before she is clipped and potentially stable use when the nights are milder, and to put on her after work for cooling down. I may also use it to layer if it gets really cold!!

Weatherbeeta do a thermo-cell rug, John Whitaker has one too, both around the £45 mark on ebay. Is there anything else out there?
Any recomendations- what does everyone else have??

I just use a standard fleece rug, my horses (even in Shetlands temps) are fine with that unless its snowy then ill put a heavier stable rug on them. I like the fleeces as they have quite a lot of give around the chest and I find rugs always slip back overnight.
What about the snuggy-jams? Yhey are pricey but look like they fit nicely and are uber cute. Ive pm'ed you the website. x

Mine lives out all year now but when she was stabled at night on a livery yard I just used her normal fleece (weatherbeeta one I use for travelling etc as well) initially then as the weather gets colder start with her stable rugs

I would just use a fleece or lightweight stable rug.

fleece rugs are usually quite cheap either that or maybe a whitney stripe wool rug, although often they can be too heavy, £45 seems awfully pricey for just a fleece rug i would buy either a very thin stable rug or just a generic fleece rug i have one from robinsons and it actually fits really nicely and is good for cooling off,

Ollie is in two rugs at the moment and isnt clipped yet so are you sure you only want a fleece? He has a really thing stable rug during the day and then a middle sized one put on over the top for night time, he is never too hot and is just the right amount of toastie
