Literally made me gasp and my hairs stand on end and shivers run up and down my body to read that title. In fact I'm still feeling the shivers.

I am so so so sorry. I feel devastated for you.

Thank you all - I'll post a proper thing later but she was found this morning by Dad cast, I was on nights, got her up, wasn't right - was colic.

Got vet, initially didn't look too serious, but as I was on nights tonight I said to admit her so that they could monitor - and take bloods.

Her lactate levels were 10.6 showing that there was major damage to the gut somewhere. They took some fluid from her abdomen - it was blood.

Operating wasn't an option, they could tell there was too much damage by the lactate levels.

I did the only thing left to do. I took her pain away and transferred it all to me...

I had the massive privilege of meeting Satin last year, and taking her for a hack, she was the most amazingly fun, game horse I have ever ridden. She clearly loved Zoe so much, I have never seen such a strong bond between a horse and a person. She was a true Black Beauty.

I somehow thought that Satan would last forever,impossible I suppose but if any horse could have managed the impossible it would have been her,she was truly one of a kind.

I remember her being one of the first horse I read about on here way back when,and tales of her antics have made me chuckle ever since,the world is a sadder place with her passing.

Take care of yourself,she wouldn't want you to be miserable.
She was too full of life to ever really be gone,and will make sure she is with you somehow I'm sure.

I've just opened a lovely card from the vet who put her to sleep which has set me off again...
