Hi everybody,

I have a 16.3hh TB mare. She is 13 and is dark bay. I bought her last year from somebody who had only had her for a week, they didn't know anything about her past. She is with me for keeps no matter what her past is like but I am just interested to see what her breeding is (everybody who has met her has said how they doubt she is full TB and I totally agree as she is quite heavy with a good amount of bone) and also maybe some information about what she has done before and where she has come from. Her passport is pretty blank, it has the name of the owner who registered her for a passport in 2005 but nothing previous to this. I wrote a letter to the name and address of this owner but got a phonecall from the person who now lived in the house and didnt know where her previous owner had moved to. All the passport states is her registered name which is "Peugeot", her year of birth which is 1998, and her breed which just says thoroughbred. It has the detailed drawing of her markings which is all correct as far as I could tell and also dettails of all vaccinations, these stopped in 2007 until I had them all restarted last year which leaves a 3 year gap in which I dont know where she was and also where she was previous to 2005.

I have tried searching "Peugeot" into the online breeding sites but have found nothing relating to her what so ever. :miffed:

I dont need to know the answers but it would be nice to find out where she has come from! She also had quite a bad injury in her back (the osteopath said it would have been left for a matter of years until I had it treated) This is something the person I bought her off of didnt realise.

I will try and upload some photos later on :)

I found her on NED online but it says born 1997?
To be honest you've got no chance of finding out breeding. I bought a TB filly back in 2000 from an auction, the seller was silly enough not to put a reserve on and had a hissy fit at the price she made so didnt pass the passport on or tell me her breeding. I had an idea of who her sire was off something the groom said but when i contacted wetherbys they said i could do a dna test to confirm parentage but would have to pay £75 for each comparison (the stallion covered at least 60 mares that season) When passport legislation changed i passported her myself with The Horse passport agency under a name i had chosen (i was never told her original one)
If you google her name and the area she came from you may hit lucky and find competition results or old sales adds online but your more likely to get a million adds for Peugeot cars instead.

Does she have a stud brand on her? I'm not sure how it is in the UK, but in Aus, if she's full tb, she should be branded with a stud brand on one shoulder and two numbers on the other - her foaling number and year of birth.
If you can find the stud, you can send them a letter asking about those numbers. :)

Unfortunately no she doesn't :( I am not overly fussed but its just nice to know the previous history. She isn't freeze marked and obviously if she was chipped (which I am sure would have been done with the passport in 2005) then it would have the details of the owner which is on her passport anyway so dont think that would be much help either!
