Well done! You both did really well for a first attempt!
You've got me longing to get out and do some winter series this year! Didnt manage to get to any trec this year what with one thing or another.

Why did you get a 0 for the walk, I didn't see you break out of a walk?
Your pony is very cute :)
Well dne for giving it a go. There's someone on here that does a lot of le trec. Hopefully they'll see your post and give you some tips

Yeah, I've had to travel pretty far for it too. Think our furthest was 2hours one way!
The two day comps are a blast! I've only done but it was so much fun!
There are a few winter ones near me so if B settles back to normal then hopefully get out to one or two towards the end of winter. (at the moment I'd settle on a hack round the block! Hopefully soon though!)

I'd love to have a go at trec. I don't think Bo is calm enough though! lol She would be able to do all that was needed....but in her own fashion which might not be exactly what is required! lmao! Would be fun to try though.

just had a look at your video...well done for having a go, the first time as always the worst but its get easier as you go.....
if you dont mind me giving you some tips...i have done about 30 now lol
with the control of paces you would normally do the canter then the walk then be timed on the PTV, so you stop and then go with the timer starts....you were a bit rushed coming from the canter to the bending....you need to be going in canter across the line and canter all the way....you would ahve been too fast any way but canters always been my nightmare so i can undertand how hard it is.....try practising at home and shorten you reins and try and get him more collected..it will come....your walk was nice just a bit slow.....again practice out hacking by pushing your hips one at atime with his walk steps to encourage him to lenghten but theres promise in that walk....i have managed a 24 in walk which is very hard to do!
on to the PTV
i judged them as i would judge in a comp...obviousy you were a first timer so they are kinder but if you were a bit more experienced this is what i would have given you.....
1, bending....you missed a pole so i would have given you 0 which is correct
2, s bend...you halted 4 times, again you would get 0 you need to keep moving
3, corridor was correct
4, rein back you got 2 style points but you really should sit up straight , looking behind you or down will loose you style points
5, jump..that was ok
6, maypole...you walked so should have got a 4 plus style points not a 7
7, branches was correct
8, immobility...you didn't secure your reins round the stirrups whoch would loose you marks....if your horse had put his head down he would have broken the reins if he trod on them....thats 3 marks off....i think you did the 10 seconds but you raised your hand so the time stops then less the 3 marks for the reins
9, led corridor correct
10, mount....your stirrups should remain over the saddle til you get on the mount or into the circle, you loose points for that, your horse was so far away you had to clamber across and you reins were too loose....had you been out in the open your horse could have ran off before you got on!...i would have given you 4 -1 for loose stirrups
hope you find this helpful for next time.....you will do better then...not easy having one person judge the lot, we have one judge for 1 or 2 obstacles at the most
tips to remeber....always secure your reins and stirrups as you loose valuable points!
well done, not easy with a horse that neighs the whole way through lol

Thank you teally appreciate you taking your time to do that.
That is nothing to what I am used to at shows neighing wise !
Have ordered a rule book, and booked in for one in coventry in Dec.
It is addictive wanted to get straight back in and go again !
Would love yo have a go at a summer one but rules look hard with carrying farrier tools and stuffs
easyrider
7th November 2011, 04:05 PM
you dont need farrier tools til level 3 and 4 so dont worry about that..a rule book is a good idea the more you understand the better you will score...honestly i have been all over this summer and had a ball.....sometimes we did well....other times terrible....always the orienteering lets us down we made mistakes...my lads pretty good on the PTV so we can pull back at times....hope you didn't mind me commenting, i want to do some judges training so i have to be honest...better to know where you want wrong for next time...i dont think i am doing the dec one...havn't made up my mind yet...they are so far away
if any training weekends come up go on them,,,you will learn lots......
and enjoy!
