Its black synthetic (think thats how its spelt) i think webbing possibly from Libbys or similiar they retail for around £135 but got my ebay bargain for £72 including postage massive smile on my face this evening
I have my little pony trap another bargain £50!!
Its old and rusty been out of action since the 70's when it was last used in a show but it just needs the paint rubbed off bit of welding to the wheel arches and spruced back into life...winter project
To say i'm excited under statement ever since getting my pony back i made the decision he would be ride/drive as being 11.3/12hs i cant always guarantee a little rider to keep him fit and lami free so now i can work him and enjoy him doing something little more challenging i've never driven so huge learning experience for me as well
Oooo i cant wait for the harness to get here ooooo

You must take photos when you try it on him. I got in a right old muddle with mine and he was so patient all festooned with bits of leather. Pictures are a must. :D

Wow ebay bid won on tuesday night and harness delievered friday night needless to say i was itching to try it out on carn straight away :p
So today after carn was ridden today and given time to chill out it was my turn to play with my pony!
I got him out and fitted his harness to him i have absolutely no idea how to fit his harness but i was eager beaver and wanted to get it on him out in the school long reining mainly for carn to get use to different tack than saddle and bridle.
And he was as usual little trooper for his mum walking around the school happy as larry with his new tack on i dont think he even noticed the difference to be fair
But i really do need to get advice on how to fit the harness properly i end up with two buckles free and two straps free so they must have a job but what??? LOL
Anyway heres todays pictures of us playing in the school

Looks a nice little harness, but some of the straps look like they need lengthening, the ones over his quarters need to be hanging more straight and I think you need a hands width between the bit that goes around the back of him (sorry don't know the names). My hubby bought me a couple of books about learning to drive and breaking to harness which I've found really helpful, they were both by Sallie Walrond.

The breast collar looks ok but the breechings(bum bit) is not fitted properly.
The bit around the back of his legs is too tight and the 'v' straps over his bum are far to short.
The whole harness should be in line.
the buckles and straps left over are for connecting to the cart.
It all needs space to move or it'll cause sores very quickly, and the 'girth' needs to be looser than a girth on a saddle. Its not carrying the weight or having someone get on so doesn't need to be so tight and won't slip due to all the other strappings.
Must say not a bad attempt for a first go, so pat on the back due!

He looks fab! How cute.
I loved longreining with the harness; Stan was a totally different animal, he just marched along as if it was the best thing in the world!
You made a much better attempt than me. First time I had all these straps just hanging around his bum. lol!

Thanks for the comments
I havent fitted the harness properly as i have no idea how to fit the harness at this stage anyway...i put it all on him to make sure it fitted as it was a ebay purchase everything is on the last holes so thankfully i have lots of room for adjustment
My landlord use to drive his horses all the time years ago so will ask him to show me the correct way to fit the harness when the time comes for me to start dragging something behind him at the moment i'm not to concerned about the harness its being put on purely for him to get use to it and for long reining him
I'm going to long rein him for next couple of wkends carn has done lots of long reining so hes very straight forward to work on long reins but want to make sure his memory fresh and switched on to what i want from him and then i think i will get my landlord to show me how to fit the harness properly and think i will crack on with tyre pulling for good few weeks before i progress to adding the cart depending of course on how carn takes to it will take it at his pace and get plenty of advice and guidance from my landlord i hope
